    Autographed Card

If I were to have a player sign a card of his, regardless of the sport, would it increase or decrease the value?. I've always wondered this and at first guess thought increase, but thinking some more...

Supposedly it decreases the value, but I would tend to think that would only be on a more expensive type card, IE: Joe Montana auto on his RC, Gretzky on his RC, etc. A sig on a common or even a "low dollar" game used card or insert would probably not really even increase the value of the card, just because of the amount of forgeries out there....now....if say you got Eric Youngs auto on any card it would have no effect (no offense to EY fans...lol) because he is not a "calibur" player.

I have a feeling I sort of went off the topic....lmao....I need some caffine now...but I hope you got the gist of what I was trying to say :new_silly

    Peace~

Yea I wouldnt want to get a higher end card signed, but if its just a common card it could increase the value a small bit, but not much even if you get a coa.

wow, why is that? One would think with coa it would increase...I'm not sure I understand the why in this?

Why then are pulled auto's so sought after? I was going to start a vine asking what type of card is best to get an auto on? lol

I said it would increse but not by a whole lot. I mean if you get a base card of say Tiki Barber signed by him then get a COA for it, it would still only sell for like $5-$10 which is probably less than you paid to get the coa. And I mean a COA from like PSA/DNA of somethin not one some guy just printed off of his computer saying its real.

Usually decreases because it "ruins" the card. But I am sure if it's a higher end player and had a good COA it might increase.

It may not increase the sell value, but it would most certainly increase the value to you as a collector. The reason that "pulled autos" are much more valuable than IP autos are that the companies that produce the auto certify the signature (and, quite frankly, it's easier for Americans to trust companies than it is for them to trust individuals).

ok, it is not the signature itself but the trust factor...ok, I can see that. I was thinking of trying to get a collection of IP siggys but no need to waste my time...thanks

If you wanna do it, have fun doing it, and would value them yourself then its all worth it.

I personally know that I value all of my IP/TTM autographs way beyond the "value" that should be put on them. It's the intangible part of meeting the athlete, getting them to sign your item, or, in the case of TTM, opening that envelope to see who took time out of their schedule to sign a card for you. I'd strongly recommend getting into IP/TTM autos, they're a lot of fun.

    Regards,
    Mike
