    Can we save SCF?

Ok if the title is a bit alarmist, its meant to be. I have been on this site for pushing 15 years now, and I have never seen it in such a worrisome state as it is now. Threads remaining on the main pages for over a day- and Im talking the main trade and sale pages.

CC seems to be all but dead, and it seems that the members as a whole are either less active, or are only concerned with making deals that grossly benefit them at the expense of their trade partner...

Can we save this site, and restore it to the great community that it was not too many years ago, or is SCF doomed to become another ghostland trading site, populated by scammers, a few loyal members, and a lot of great memories, but nothing else?

Anyone have any ideas? I love this site, and want to see it thrive again, but I am only 1 guy...

I think the problem is everybody is looking for high end deals or sell high end. In my short time I have found trades to be hard unless you have cards that came out last week. I buy blasters just to have some newer stuff to trade. This site is great and I love it but I think collecting in general is dying. MAny people are just flipping cards. I can be honest I cam here to condense my collection but I find it that nobody wants 80's and 90' cards. And some overflate there asking when checking BV.

Its been like this for s while. Every time i post about buying or trading for a certain player i never get anybody selling. I think they all would rather sell on ebay. Everytime i post about selling i never get anything either. Not much going on around here anymore.

I can agree to that! No one wants stuff unless it is high end, as you said. The problem is, getting high end out of boxes is harder and harder. I think a lot of people are sick of 4 dollar jersey cards out of 100 dollar plus boxes, and therefore are opening less.

you are right- and I wonder why, which is why i made this post initially. I mean, ebay was always a big part of the hobby, even when this site was thriving...

I have an aaron judge thread that I have run for almost a year. I got 0,donut ,nothing from him. And he is not even high end. I have tried to get players on the low end and it seems nobody has them because it is not some hot rookie

i suppose thats the case- the bench i know has gotten big, and blowout has a bunch of people...maybe the lack of active leadership here has doomed this site...

i'm fairly new here (and really more or less lurk rather than post for now) so i don't know what the siae was like in the past and how that compares to now....

that said , i will say i spend very little time here for several specific reasons :

    1) i view posts using the "new posts" feature rather than going sub-forum to sub-forum.....i check in 15-20 times a day most days and it seems that the majority of those times at least 75-80% of the threads i see are those advertising ebay specials (ebay sellers club)....i don't come HERE to see ebay items - i go to ebay to see ebay material....i get daily e-mails for the 100 ebay searches i have saved and i visit that site numerous times per day to look for items - i don't really want to have to wade though all those posts to find actual posts from members who are looking to buy , sell , or trade....

    2) when the new posts aren't dominated by ebay listings , it seems that at least 50% and often 75% or more are dedicated to hockey ....nothing wrong with that except that i haven't really collected hockey in over 25 years so most of those threads hold very little interest to me....

    3) and finally , even when i do see posts of actual people looking to buy , sell , or trade the vast majority of the time those posters are only looking for the latest hottest items and the ultra high-end stuff that i don't really have nor care to stockpile....i love ALL cards - base , inserts , parallels , gu , autos etc....many people (and this seems to be true of the majority of people on all boards now so i'm not singling out this site or its members) seem to think if you don't have the elite material you have nothing....i know for a fact there are plenty collectors out there who do still value the low-end and mid-range material , but we seem to be shunned and even ridiculed by so many people...i know i've heard quite a few people say they have given up because most people feel they aren't worth dealing with since they don't seek or have top-of-the-line material.....

one feature i'd like to see that would definitely enhance my time here is a way to filter out any sub-forums we don't want to see.....i know it's possible (because at least one other site i belong to finally installed it) and it may exist here already , but if so i've been unable to find a way to do it.....

I'm guilty of MIA for around 2 or 3 years ....had a lot going on and stopped collecting for awhie ....I came back and took notice of the changes, site is not the same as I remembered it. Well, I'm back into collecting, upgrading my sites and I do trade/sale and collect vintage in all grades and gosh, I do dabble in new stuff to stay current. So if anyone ones to trade ....check my sites out and lets do some trading!
P.S. I will trade gu and auto's for vintage.
