Is a Tarasenko YG worth grading?
with him not signing and him being so hot, I was wondering if I should send in my young guns of him to be graded. They don't sell too great right now but i could see them going up as he continues his success.

I think it would depend on the population report of how many were graded 10, 9.5, 9.0 and in which categories yours would fall. I can't remember where to find the population report right now but I believe it's easily accessible. I do think Tarasenko is a great player and I would think he would have success anywhere he goes even if it takes him half a season to fully adjust to a new team.

Do you think he'll score mote goals or be better than ovechkin? ?
His YG ain't worth much...
I guess if you get a BGS 10 then it would be worth it.

You'd have to do a bit of research to find out what the difference is in sales between a raw YG and the 9.5 & 10.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

This is a flawed opinion and multiple factors should be in play here. Firstly, which grader are you using. I would suggest PSA as they are cheaper and sell better. You can use PSA's bulk offer this month and have it slabbed for $7. Even a 9 would be worth it just to have it slabbed and protected for future years.

A penny sleeve, top loader, and team bag would protect it just as well.
Graded cards is something that has become an obsession with American collectors, but from what I've seen (in general) it's never caught on in Canada..... and guess where the majority of hockey collectors come from ??
Really small sample size, but for a few sets I'm working on..... it has been cheaper for my to buy PSA 9s, smash the slap, remove the card, and stick it into a binder - than it was for me to buy a raw copy of the card.
I will 100% acknowledge that PSA (or BGS) 10s will get a premium. A large premium in some cases. For vintage cards (where you're concerned about about condition and/or authenticity) there is a huge value in grading cards.
As for the specific topic: If you grade the YG, here's the deal. If you get a 9, it's probably would the same..... or less.... than the card would be raw.
Here's someone that bought a pair of PSA 9s for just over $30:

Raw card is more in the $20 range, not $15.
If you think you've got a 9.5 or 10, then you're adding value (at a cost of $7-$20 for the grade, depending on what deal you get).
Is it worth it??? IMO No, but I have never spent a nickel grading cards.

I would tend to agree with some of these points. Because grading involves the human element it will always be flawed. No way a penny sleeve, top loader, and team bag protects a card as well as those sturdy slabs.
