Ya I did. Good idea but Im not quite in a position to be handing out stuff. The security here is insanely strict. They check everything to make sure stuff does not leave this company. But I really appreciate your participation in this thread and I have contacted the admin about establishing an official UD forum.

<- Is not buying this. Why would an employee of UD need to start a site at a freebie place like MySpace?

I am sure that there are many who would love to join a forum that was run by one of the largest distributers of sports cards in the country. Yes, you will have many who need to vent, but I even think that would be good PR for the company because people will have a place to go and get answers (you would definately have to have a Sticky devoted to complaints with someone on there that can answer questions honestly and quickly). This is a great idea and you will have no problem getting people to join...just think of the contests, box breaks, mojo...etc that could be generated by such a site.
I think having a space on MySpace is actually very smart, but you will not reach the older generation who can really spend the money...why? Because that site has gotten such bad press with all the sickos...we have told our children to stay away from the site (and yes there are millions of parents that will not allow their children near that site) we are not then going to turn around and post there ourselves...You want to reach us because we control the wallets.
A responsible forum that allows adults to interact in a mature way would be great. I am pretty new to collecting but I LOVE this site and spend lots of time trying to find another site during the day that is more active. I bet the others will follow...

I guess UD has entrusted their myspace marketing to 21-year old "Brad" (look at the group's leader).
i for one will not be joining in this "experience"

I'm not here to promote Brad's endeavor but I find it interesting that so many find it hard to believe a company would advertise on Myspace. Movies advertise there, all of the big auto makers have space there. I went to the movies two nights ago with my daughter and came out angry because so many companies that appeal to kids had advertisements on the screen for their 'spaces at myspace'...If ebay would allow them they would have taken that over also. It is free (I think) and it will reach millions...a marketing dream.
They are going after the next generation of spenders...the college kids. Makes perfect sense to me.

Heres what you need to do set up your account redesign it to however ud feels would be good. Use your blog for news about new products, checklists, information about the hobby, etc.
Then go out and invite everybody to be your friend. Figure that 1/10 of the people you try to add actully will, so for every 100 you attempt about 10 will sign up. (these numbers are from what I have experianced and will not neccessialy be what you get). I would also suggest makeing more than 1 account. Do one for baseball, football, basketball, hockey, golf, etc. Then everytime the company want to let people know something you can send a bulliton to all of your friends. This works exceptionally well for bands that have 20 to 30 thousand friends and becomes the cheapest way to market to incredibly large amounts of people.

Myspace is perfect for collector's groups and for people to advertise. I use it every day to stay in touch with my college friends in AZ, get concert tour updates, movie updates etc...hell you can talk to alot of athletes through it (yes, 99% are fake...but I know alot of the OSU football players so we can chat through the site when they are in school and I am working)
