Condition of Jersey/Patch cards pulled from box

I seemed to notice that almost all the jersey or patch cards I pull are never mint condition...there is always a nick here or a ding there...I would like to know if this is a common occurence or I am just getting really unlucky with these cards. Any info would help. Thanks

Depends on what product you're pulling from.

I have noticed that last year a ton of Panini products, especially the thick stock cards or the all black cards have an atrocious amount of damage on them. Even when Panini or a moderator posted a preview of a product I noticed an insane amount of damage to edges and corners. Quite a few Upper Deck products have been like that too in the last couple years but normally Upper Deck is pretty good.

I have not once (to my recollection) pulled a damaged card from ITG. I have pulled a couple damaged cards from Leaf Draft Prospects. Upper Deck, like I said it pretty good but Panini has been hit and miss the last couple years.

I think I have opened Rookie Anthology the most by Panini and I think those cards are generally pretty good. So like I said, Panini has been hit and miss over the last couple years.

Yes, every jersey from S1/S2 is banged up in one way or another, lets not even get into thicker cards.
Look at cup rookies....ughh

I think its accepted now though...black border cards...forget about it.

Depending on the set it seems like some of the game used, patches, and autographs will always be "damaged" in some way or another. Especially if the set has black borders and are thicker cards than normal. Most people usually won't care except for the occasional headcase on eBay that doesn't get it.

I would assume that if 80-90% of a sub-set were damaged then people would pay a premium for one in mint condition. I personally won't buy a Red Wings patch card if it is damaged. If I pull a Red Wings patch and it is damaged I would either sell it or give it to my cousin.

I also would never sell a damaged card as if it were NR-MT. I always make sure to disclose this information in my listings because as said above you can run into a real head-case on eBay which could just become a nightmare for you.

People don't grade most patch/thick cards except maybe rc's. ..

If I'm buying a cup scripted stick I don't care if there is a little chipping..not perfect corner.....what's more important is the auto/stick part....
