help w_mult-signed baseball w_ Mantle, Killebrew, Brooks Robinson etc w_8 HOF players
I have a baseball with 8 HOF players autographs including the following:
Mickey Mantle
Whitey Ford
Juan Marichal
Tony Perez
Harmon Killebrew
Ernie Banks
Brooks Robinson (2 autographs)
Warren Spahn
There are some other autographs on the ball I'm having trouble identifying. Can anyone identify the other players besides the ones I have listed? I can't post photos here but I have them on my site. I posted pretty big images so it would be possible to see all the autographs well. I'd really like to know who the other autographs are from. I'd like an idea what a ball like this would be worth too. It hasn't been authenticated but I know the autographs are legit. And the ball is in pretty good condition.
If anyone would like another photo of one of the autographs I'll be happy to post it.

I believe Gaylord Perry is on there too but I wasn't sure. Anyone?

Gaylord Perry and Luke Appling. That leaves one unidentified autograph.

Appling was before my time I guess. I've heard his name but it's been a long time ago. I guess it shows my age but I saw all the other people on the ball play with the exception of Whitey Ford. I actually saw him play I guess but I was too young to remember it. We watched all of the 1961 World Series because we were Reds fans. Watching tv wasn't nearly as common then. :) I was only 5 though so I don't remember much except my dad getting mad as heck and Ford was a big reason for it. He won 2 games in that series and they only played 5 games.

Wow, thanks for the help. My head is spinning to find out Yaz is on there. You wouldn't believe how I came across this ball. My wife bought it from an old lady who brought it in to where she works and asked her if she wanted to buy it. She bought it and another one the lady had. That one has almost all the Big Red Machine. I tried to tell my wife she should take it back to her because it was worth so much but she said the lady didn't want it. She tried to sell us about 500 signed cards on top of that. I tried to tell her (through my wife) that she didn't know what she was doing but she said not to worry about it. My lucky day I guess. Her brothers collected the signatures in Cincinnati back in the days when players went around to events in the off season as a way of making some extra cash. I live pretty close to Cincy.

You should try to get the 500 cards as well if they are still available. Great ball!

I believe the lady already sold the cards. It's been a couple of years ago we got these balls. I looked at the cards and none of them were on this level but there were some nice cards there. I think he grandson got wind of what she was doing and maybe he pulled the really good stuff out of what I saw. No matter. I felt bad for her anyway but she insisted that we keep the balls even after her grandson got involved. I know lots of people would have jumped on the situation but the lady sold them cheap to my wife because she liked her anyway. I couldn't take advantage of that.
There was some guy that was there when my wife bought those balls who tried to up the price on the lady after she had offered them to my wife. She wouldn't even take that after she had named a price for them to my wife. I really felt kinda bad for her even though at the time I wasn't 100% sure of the autographs. I've done a lot of checking since and they all appear spot on to me. But I'm not an expert.
Speaking of experts there's a place in Cincy that does autograph verifications. I know is isn't what everyone looks for (PSA) but I've heard stories about that company making mistakes. The service here is Professional Autograph Authentication Service. Does anyone have a take on that place?Last edited by Jeff56; 04-30-2015 at 02:01 PM.

My wife just reminded me that the lady offered to sell her another ball with a Mantle autograph on it. It wasn't in nearly as good shape as this one and we didn't know for sure if it was even legit or not. And by then the price had gone up significantly because of her grandson getting involved. I suspect it was a pretty valuable ball too knowing what I know now. But not knowing if it was legit or not made it a risky proposition. You guys will freak at how much I paid for the ball here and the Reds ball. $150 for both of them. Again we weren't collectors so we didn't know if they were legit or not but my wife believed the lady's story so we got the two but didn't get the other one. It's enough of a hit to take on the two she sold us anyway. It would be different if it was some total stranger but I can't do friends like that.
BTW we did have a guy who collects a lot look at the balls and he said they were legit. He regularly spends thousands on stuff. He's been trying to talk my wife out of one of her Pistol Pete autographs for quite a while for example. He offered a good amount for a card that hasn't been verified but it will be worth considerably more after we get it verified. We've sorta been saving this stuff for our retirement. We've accumulated quite a few things over the years that are worth some money.Last edited by Jeff56; 04-30-2015 at 02:18 PM.
