    When Creating My Commons list

So I am in the process of putting together the inserts list...I should get some really nice trades out of these, but I also need to put together my commons list.

I will do this by player, what information should I list on each card?

    Year Set Card Number Player
    1989 Topps 346 Joe Cowley

Commons will likely appeal mostly to set collectors, and they'll be looking for a card number.

You might want to set your list up in a spreadsheet program that will allow you to sort it by player for a player collector....and by year and set for the set collectors.

I may know I need #346 from the '89 Topps set, but I likely don't know it is Joe Cowley, so I'd want to see a list of what you have in '89 Topps.

thanks, I am first putting them into beckett then downloading them to an excell file so I can arrange them by player.

My list is already over 3,000 cards (inserts) and I have thousands to go. I probably should plug them into a web-website with a link right?

Yeah, that's probably a good idea. You definitely want people to know what you have to trade.

I don't want to be discouraging, but it will be an awful lot of work to list all your commons, and I'm not sure you'll see much benefit in terms of trades or sales of those cards.

you are not being discouraging, I am learning. I know many here want certain players...so for commons I can just say something like lmk who you collect and I will get back to you with a list...maybe then just create the list as the names come up...that will save me quite a bit of time.

Mia, I am new to trading so I am trying to be as organized about it as possible. I am now cataloging all of my cards in order to produce a list that others here can look at.

I only collect Jeter/ARod so all these other players are really just taking up valuable space. Of course when I find a 40 - 120 bv card it goes into my personal collection, but I think others will be pleased when they see what I'm talking about...there are still thousands of cards to be put up for trade/sale of every major player out there except of course Derek and Alex.

I'd still encourage you to do it Gkeenan, i'm still going to, I think it'd be great to see EVERY SINGLE card somebody has just by clicking a mouse, and i'm always up for buying base!

mia, oh, so you think it would be good to do each player. This is not as difficult as it may seem...during the game I just pull out 3 or 4 players (starting with the major ones) and the next day plug them into beckett which makes the bv list I then download them to excell and there is your list...I think I will do it...I think it will make trading much easier.

    thanks
