No idea how I got started. My first memory of cards is just having them around. I think it's because my cousins collected them so my mom got me into collecting them. I collected from when I was really little until about the time I started college. Now I'm into it again because of the fact that the GU/Auto cards are amazing and I just love sports so much.

PS yes he is totally healthy now and has no lasting effects of his prematurity other than a little touch of asthma (which should clear up) and he is taking a little longer to get his fine motor skills tuned up although he is crawling and talking a bit now :)

jabatech God Bless that little guy of yours. Sounds to me like he had a very rough start in life. May his upcoming years be brighter and filled with happiness.

My first pack was from 1992 Ultra basketball. I opened the pack at Bankston's SC in Waco, TX. The pack contained 3 Shaq RCs and I sold them for $20 per back the shop. A few months later, I ended up working there to feed my new addiciton/ hobby.

$0.15 is all it took. I wasn`t very happy when Topps raised the cost of a pack to $0.25.

Back in 1981 a friend of my dad's brought over a small paper bag stuffed with cards. He handed them to me, and the bag ripped pouring 1981 Topps baseball cards all over the floor. They were the coolest thing I had ever seen (I was 8 -lol), and I spent hours looking thru those cards and reading the fronts and backs. I was hooked instantly.

I was kind of born into it. The town I grew up in Williamsport, PA was the home of little league baseball. I started playing tball and wanted to have momentos of all my favorite players so I started buying cards. I originally collected juan gonzales and pudge (rangers fan) but somehow managed to end up on nolan ryan. I went to cooperstown to see him inducted and have been collecting him ever since.
