1986 fleer prices soaring?
Has anyone else noticed that the eBay completed sale prices for cards from this set has skyrocketed in the last year? Any idea as to why? I've been tracking these for the last few years, and here is some examples comparing last year around this time to now:
Highest sale price for PSA 10, April 2014 vs 2015
Larry Bird: 725 vs 1237
Clyde Drexler: 221 vs 760
Joe Dumars: 209 vs 315
Akeem Olajuwon: 430 vs 1525
Larry Nance: 200 vs 322
Highest sale price for BGS 9.5, April 2014 vs 2015
Larry Bird: 300 vs 520
Akeem Olajuwon: 325 vs 600
Patrick Ewing: 360 vs 758
It also seems like the shear volume of eBay sales of PSA cards has increased. Obviously that is partly due to there being more and more graded cards with time.

Hey - mildly off-topic, but where are you finding year-old eBay prices?

Maybe they're printing completed sales to keep as record. Or could be writing it down as well. I hate how eBay took away the option to print a listing that sold.

Shouldn't really be that big of a shock. Modern basketball cards aren't really that hot and the 1986-87 Fleer set is one of the most popular and famous basketball sets of all time. You are going to get a lot of collectors going for a PSA 10 set and that drives up the prices.
Also I don't know how true the rumors are but the supply of 1986-87 Fleer is drying up. People are having a harder time tracking down a case which is almost impossible and the box prices have skyrocketed as well. Very hard to get a PSA 10 if it isn't pulled right out of a pack now with this set.Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

To find completed sales, go to sortsof.com which will show best offers, etc.
1986 Fleer has got to be the most collected set in a long time. My guess psa 10's will go up and up as "minor stars" are playing catch up to the more obvious stars.

Good resource, but that really only gives you three months of results (same as ebay). I wasn't sure if there was a historical reference out there I wasn't aware of.

There's worthpoint which has results from the last few years but it is a subscription service. I have noticed the Jordan's starting to climb over the last few years but who knows if they're actual auctions or shilled.

Exactly, nothing that I'm aware of that will let you look at older auctions without paying for it. At least you can see what the best offers were on sortsof.com. you can't on Ebay anymore.
