That's all well and good, but if he is a terrorist and this was a terrorist attack, where are his fellow terrorists and when should we expect their attacks?

You could say that about any attack. Just because this kid posts a manifesto doesn't make it relevant to terrorism. You have to look at the entire context of the attack. My main reason for NOT labeling it as terrorism is the lone nature of the attack. No one else is fighting his cause (I think he even mentions that). He's a lone kid filled with hatred. Nothing more.

I would love to actually discuss this. So Habs, if I'm understanding what you are saying correctly, there needs to be a reoccurring threat of attack by the same organization/group with some sort of mission and hierarchy for it to truly be considered a terrorist attack.

Therefor the Boston Marathon and OKC bombings, both of which have had their suspects captured(or killed) do not qualify because all of those responsible have been tried(or killed), yet I think we would all agree they were. Why would those be considered terrorist attacks and not this shooting?

Both of those were terrorist attacks. The difference is neither of them were directed at ONE RACE. All attacks like this can be considered terror. This attack was more about HATE of a RACE. It's a question of how do you characterize the event. My contention is that this event was MORE about the HATRED, not creating an environment of terror like in Boston. The marathon bombing was indiscriminate in choosing it's victims, much like Oklahoma, much like the Colorado theatre, the Sandy Hook school, the Columbine shooting. All the perpetrators in these attacks can be described as mentally defective. All can be described as creating a terror. All can be shown to be lone events. This guy chose a RACE to kill. That makes it a HATE CRIME, more than anything else IMO.

Targeting a person and harassing/assaulting them because they are of gender/race/religion is a hate crime, targeting an extremely specific location and carrying out a mass murder is a terrorist attack.

Whether it's an attack promoting a hate of race or a hate of country does it really matter? If Roof had used explosives to kill nine people this would have been treated very differently, when in reality there isn't any difference (other than property damage)

It's a message of hate targeting a specific group of people in an attempt to promote an environment of terror. IMO it's more of a terror attack than Sandy Hook or Columbine because of the message behind it, and should absolutely be treated as such.
