Not a Pens fan or hater but I am also looking forward to see how the whole Malkin / Crosby / Kessel thing works out.
I know its not probable, but if Crosby and Kessel happen to play on the same line and have any kind of chemistry ...... how many Art Ross / Harts / Rocket Richard trophies are those 2 going to collect in the next few years.
Im personally a fan of this guy:

They will do ok, maybe make the play-offs, but sooner or later, get hit by Lightning!

The Penguins are a VERY good team - there is no mistaking that - but they will be the Penguins...finish the season at the top but ultimately disappoint in the playoffs.
Not sure how the Kessel situation will benefit Pittsburgh. There is only one puck that Crosby can distribute between forwards Malkin, Kunitz, Kessel, Bonino, Hornqvist and Dupuis (if healthy); not to mention defensemen Maatta, Letang and Pouliot. I include all those names because surely Crosby will play alongside all of them (regular shifts and power play) throughout the season.
canucksfan007 mentioned the possibility of numerous Art Ross / Harts / Rocket Richard trophies that Kessel/Crosby/Malkin may gather during their time together. The Stanley Cup is the main goal of this team and 20 of each trophy will not ease the pain if this trio of players cannot bring another cup to Pittsburgh.
I am actually WORRIED about the Pittsburgh Penguins going forward. In order for them to succeed, Crosby must play his game and not worry about referees and non-calls against him (most especially in the playoffs). Don't complain about stuff he cannot control. Kessel must also play his game - score. Phil should take a public relations course, because in Toronto he was an a** (even if some of the questions were idiotic attempts by media to make him upset so they had a story to publish).
I have to be honest, I am beyond shocked that Malkin is still in Pittsburgh. Due to salary concerns, he has consistently been mentioned in trade rumors. Because of these rumors, I have been expecting to hear at any point in time that he is leaving the NHL to play in Russia.
Goaltending is also a concern. Marc-Andre Fleury is a fine goalie but how many years does he have left? His playoff performance has been sub-par over the years as well. Yes, he guided the Penguins to a Stanley Cup but looking back on the years following that win, I have a feeling that was a "one and done" situation.

Leafsman while the Pens have had a solid core for years they havent drafted very well to give those guys much support up front. Now that the Maattas and Pouliots are ready to go on the back end that relieves some salary to go out and get a guy like Kessel. The Penguins havent been a very good team over the last few years and injuries have killed us because there has been no depth. This year, we have depth. I still think were a year away from hoisting the Cup again, i think we need a little more toughness on tge back end. But were definitely heading in the right direction (:

As for the Geno runours im stoked hes still a Penguin. Just would like to see him stay healthy. And fFleury will be fine. I still think hes a top five goalie in the league and will be for another 5 years. Hell end his career with another Cup and 500 wins(:
