Updating the collection with a unique card that you truly don't see everyday.
2021-22 (2023) SeReal KHL Platinum KHL Shield 1/1

If you want to dive into my recent article for a more in-depth story on the backstory on this card, the memorabilia, and how this deal came to fruition, you can read it here on my site:
Shield Your Eyes: This 1/1 Showcases a Unique Piece of European Hockey History
While being worn in a handful of games in 2018, this memorabilia was used most notably in the very first outdoor hockey game in Latvia, and 2nd outdoor game in KHL history, as Enroth helped his team earn the hard-fought 3-2 win.

Aside from being the 86th 1/1 in my collection, this KHL shield has now completed rare milestone in my collection, as I now own a game-used shield card from the 3 pillars of Enroth's career: Pre-NHL (AHL), NHL, and now post-NHL representation this this KHL shield card. A trifecta I never thought I'd complete! Now that is something you do not see everyday.

I hope you learned something new from this unique piece. It's cards like these that make me appreciate the hobby that much more. Enjoy!Jhonas Enroth Card Collector & Host of the Hidden Content

a spectacular edition and a great blog entry. it was a joy to read the story of the shield and the details behind..
i'm very sorry that I in person can't assist you any more than with some information on the local situation in Europe.
I'm very happy to see that you still was able to track this card down and add it to your collection.
if the mail service will do a good job I hope to have a 1/1 of Smith from 07/08 in my hands still within this year.
this is a period of 17 years ... so collecting specific player can be really tough but as you see also on your shield-card there is one thing: never stop believing!
enjoy your card and don't forget to update us with your next addition :)PC: MIKE SMITH

Thank you my friend, I appreciate the kind words as always. And thank you for reading the blog.. it is always nice to hear when someone reads anything on it. And I can't wait to see your newest 1/1 you've acquired for your PC.
Another update below...
Shield your eyes... Again! Another update to the collection today featuring yet another game-used shield card. Amazing!
Jhonas Enroth 2025 President's Choice Made To Order Complete logo 1/1

This shield was created back in September, and I was lucky enough to acquire it through the Dr. himself after he reached out after the cards completion. This is the 4th game-used shield card in my collection to date and my 87th 1/1 card within this collection
Coming into 2025, I had no idea what cards (if any) would make there way into my collection, so to have landed multiple shields in a single calendar year is superb. Enjoy this latest collection update!Last edited by creasecollector; 11-01-2025 at 05:58 PM.

Aaron, cool card. Is MeiGray strictly an authentication company? Wouldn't that mean the tag came after Enroth wore it? What I'm trying to square in my mind is the circularity of an authentication label itself being the centerpiece of a card. To me, it would be like grading a Beckett label or PSA case. Or did Enroth actually wear that tag?

Thank you! I agree
The tag's purpose is for both authentication and identification.
The Meigray tags are added onto each set before being issued back to the team, so the tags are worn while the jersey is in use. So once collectors buy the jersey, they can also search the tag # on Meigray's Population Report to find out when the jersey was used.
Different jersey/tag picture here, but here is the Meigray Tag from another one of Enroth's LA Kings game-worn jersey I have for an example. As you can see below, the tag's are attached.

Okay that makes complete sense. Just so many third parties feigning governance. But I guess I can see the purpose, given memorabilia remains the Wild Wild West. I wouldn't know because I have never collected jerseys, other than those I actually wear, and remain mystified by laundry tags in high-end products. Albeit, I definitely get the appeal of fight straps, and my tastes do change perpetually.
As a goalie, I did love the push for stick butt ends.
