Note to Upper Deck:
Dear Upper Deck,
You want an idea for a cool picture for a rookie hockey card? try this...

Now don't try doing something like this for for old player like Dan Boyle or Henrik Lundqvist. It has to be a kid. So pick a rookie and go with it. There, you get a great idea free of charge. Stop paying the idiots who come up with ideas like putting different OPC logos on SP inserts.

If you want more good ideas, just give me a call, I have plenty. And I could come up with a bunch more if I ever really spent any effort on thinking about it for more than a minute.

Doesn't really do anything for me as a rookie card. Prefer those kinds of cards in UD 1/2

In all honesty, I wouldnt want that to be a rookie card.
This type of card belongs in a low end set, something with 200+ cards ..... something like UD ( not Young Guns ) or Score ....

While we're on the subject of idiots.
Anyone else extremely disappointed with the OPC "patch" cards?
Silk screening a picture onto a piece of cloth, is not a manufactured patch.
And, the OPC logo with a head shot of a player stinks too.
The thing that made this insert so popular in years past was the diversity of patches.
Team logos, retro team logos, cartoons, etc.
This cloth picture idea is crap

Hmmm actually would be nice to see a shot like this to replace the boring headshots on the Young Guns checklist/header card. I wonder if UD would need to get permission from ICE or not.

Agreed, I would have been ok with putting a player's face in the corner while still using the team's logo with the manufactured patch but the stuff this year is garbage.
Well, that's still not a rookie card. Pretty sure his YG will be a shot of him from either the preseason of his first regular season game...

Yeah that does nothing for me.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

There is a reason they haven't called you yet. That's probably the last photo I would want used on a rookie card.Flickr: Hidden Content
