I have no problem with a manufacturer adding these old hits as long as they are "extra" and not counted as part of the expected hit ratio. As we see more and more of these types of cross-inserted hits, I'm thinking UD will be tempted to call them part of the expected hit run and see if anyone really cares.

I agree, I think you'll start seeing more of this from UD. At the national, we were doing the box breaker promotion at the upper deck booth. While we were breaking, the one guy started talking to us about it since we were breaking hockey and thats what he did for UD. I can't remember the guys name but he said he was the one who focused specifically on SP Authentic Hockey and that it was his idea to insert the previous year stuff and count it as hits. Basically they short the checklist to what they have in house and the rest will go out in future product. He claimed they were doing it this way because they think the collector will be happier pulling a live crappy auto of an older year product as compared to pulling a redemption card. He claimed it was also beneficial because it helped cut down on the number of redemption cards they put in their product. Ironically myself and the person I was breaking with each pulled redemptions out of the boxes we broke in front of him.

A couple things concern me about this UD Reps ideas........

    1. These update cards should NOT be included as hits, they should be a bonus on top of your stated odds.
    2. Redemptions are a necessary evil ok we get it.....but if UD thinks I would be satisfied pulling a Keith Aulie Sign of the Times rather than a redemption for a better player or comparable player from the actual year of the box im buying they are CRAZY

I don't know how I feel about UD deciding that they'd put a card from multiple years ago of a scrub player who is already out of the league in one of their most popular products and expect people to just take it as a hit.

    For shame, UD, for shame.

UD "is" counting these as hits. It is not an "extra" hit.

Oh, I understood, I just think it's shameful. If I remember correctly, didn't that card come out live? Why make collectors go through that let-down again? :P
