Preview: 2015-16 Panini Absolute Basketball
http://www.beckett.com/news/2015/10/...centric-brand/
Hobby brands come and go. What works in one sport doesn’t always catch on in another. Sometimes a brand just needs to take a break. Such is the case with 2015-16 Panini Absolute Basketball. The last time hoops collectors saw it as a full release was 2012-13 when it was known as Absolute Memorabilia. While there’s definitely a familiar feel with the brand’s past, there are some tweaks in 2015-16 Panini Absolute Basketball that bring other basketball elements into the fold.
Every pack comes with either an autograph or memorabilia card. Four packs make up a box.
Release date: December 16, 2015

I pulled this card way back when in 2013. It is from 12'13 Panini Absolute Memorabilia. According to the description, 3 years or seasons have passed since Absolute was released as a standalone product. And the "wonderful" design team @ Panini is using basically the same design here. Sans a different style font in "heroes". In a move which amazes me they used a different Kobe pic (he does have thousands of pictures, ya know) and simply zoomed out. For the autograph space they decided to "spice things up" by designing it at a slant. In "heroes" they decided to only make the "H" bigger than the rest of the letters. And for the "piece de resistance" Panini's design team decided to ditch the lonely star above "heroes" and keep them only underneath. But not underneath the "H", no stars for you! And they added a mesh background in the autograph space. Woopty-do..
The kicker for me though is the "product name change" when the product logo on my card hasn't changed whatsoever to the new card. What a joke. I mean the Panini design team didn't even decide to change up the product logo!!
WTG Panini's basketball design team. Give yourselves another salary raise and keep up the hard, lazy work...
