Do it....or Don't...????
*****QUESTION: Is it worth opening, or should I tuck it away and pass it down to my daughter with the rest of my collections?
HERES THE STORY:
I recently was given an amazing gift!!! A full box of score 1990 NHL Hockey premier edition cards. Me being me, I was overjoyed, but then, as I was doing some research, found that the box itself isn't really worth much... But the cards inside may be. I collect hockey, football, baseball, and yes even pokemon, but never have I came across an old box full of unopened packs! Now I know the whole purpose of trading cards is to open them up and see what surprises await inside, but what if there is a chance that in time this box would be worth it to not open?!
Any suggestions will help. I'm anxious to open these packs, but that annoying voice in the back of my head is screaming DONT DO IT!!!! I am stuck in between a rock and a hard place right now! PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!!

I will be brutally honest..... it's not worth much (and likely never will be) regardless of which one you do.
The two "big" cards in 1990 Score would be Brodeur & Lindros Rookie Cards.
Lindros can be had for a little more than 50 cents: http://www.comc.com/Cards/Hockey/199...Lindros/144690
Brodeur is more like $2
Those cards aren't going to get any rarer. Their values peaked way back in the 90s.
That being said, old boxes like that - I find them a lot of fun to open, values be damned.

Bust it , opening those old packs are so much fun and keeping the packs sealed won't increase their value at all since there is little to no value there to begin with.

Crack 'em and have some fun. You'll enjoy the trip down memory lane more than anything.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The best packs to crack are 1990/91 french high series UD. Does anyone else remember when that stuff was $25/pack BACK IN 1991?!

It was a funny era of card collecting. End of the 1980's you would have on the news that old hockey cards could be worth a lot of money. At that time collecting was not strong at all and only a few hard core collectors were in the hobby. I remember friends that would call back their parents to see if they still had their cards from when they were young. Many got the answer that their mom discarded them a while ago. But it created a boom between 1989 and 1992. At that time so many got back into collecting, many new manufacturer got to see the day and they totally over produce any card series. Many bought full cases thinking it would be worth a lot of money 20 years down the road. But over production made it impossible for them to gain in value. I am sure many person are still stuck with score or ProSet cases and they will never get back the maney they spent buying these. But always fun to open :)

There was a store near my parents who had one of the "white bottom" boxes (as opposed to the brown bottoms, the whites had more of the YGs) of this stuff. In the late 90s, long after Upper Deck unloaded their warehouses and killed the value, he had the box marked for $695. I once offered him $15 for it and he gave me one of the coldest stares I've ever gotten.

My buddy and I busted a full case of 91/92 Score in hopes of pulling an Orr auto (whoever would pull it would own it). It was a lot of fun...for about 4 boxes. No luck on the Orr, and you started seeing the top card and could name the entire pack after awhile ("Another Darren Rumble pack...") And yeah, the 90/91 and 91/92 Pro Set cards are 100% worthless, and not even fun to open.
