Canadian dollar keeps dropping...
Doesn't look good for the Canadian dollar.

We talk about all the issues in the hobby but I think this is the biggest issue. I've seen people bemoaning the lack of big deals and I think this is part of the issue.
I know personally I've thought twice about certain purchases only because I know I'm going to get nailed on the exchange.
Sad part is it doesn't look like it's going to get better any time soon.

Yes, my max bids are way lower from 2 years ago due to the exchange rate. I'm also trying to buy from Canadian sellers whenever possible to reduce shipping costs. The last thing is I'm trying to bid on auctions that are listed in CDN funds as it makes it easier on my wallet.

Yep it hurts. You look at a card and think, "$20 ain't that bad." Then you look at the currency conversion and then that several Canadian shippers are still inexplicably charging $4US (or more) and all of a sudden you're well over $30 CAD.

The way I look at it is this - now is the time for Americans to start buying from Canadians (as opposed to what usually happens). We all know that 75% of the cards are north of the border... so lets spread them around. Now is a great time to pick up old back stock. So do us all a favor: buy Canadian!

It costs a lot less to fill my gas tank now, so it all evens out in the end. Actually, I spend more on gas, so I'll come out ahead in this deal. Just think big picture.

I'm in the same boat as most of you. I haven't bought on eBay in quite some time. But on the bright side I visit my LCS a lot more now haha

Not sure buying Canadian is helping anyone.
I am in Canada, my auctions are in USD. If I sell here, I ask for USD or about 1.3X my price if you want to pay in Canadian ( which is not ideal as we get bad exchange from paypal )
I go into my LCS, and he has to do the same thing. His dollar is as bad as mine.
On the flip side, I dont think some people take into consideration enough the dollar when we go to monthly shows. Ill ask for a price, get an ebay quote back .... and have to pay it in Canadian? Not complaining at all, but buying singles locally in CDN funds is a very easy quick flip online. Right now it is pretty easy to take advantage of the market if you have the proper outlets.
Wax is another story.

Ha!
There are some positives to a lower dollar but I was talking from strictly hobby perspective.
