Hello everyone
Looks like I'm in the same boat as a lot of newcomers coming back around to this ridiculousness. I collected as a kid, had a few thousand basketball cards, couple dozen Jordans, a dozen Kobe and Iverson rookies, not a whole lot to brag about. Grew out of the hobby and the cards just collected dust in my parents basement for the better part of 20 years. A few weeks ago my parents were cleaning and found a couple of my old boxes and decided to bring them to me. I started digging through my best stuff first, what was still in top loaders and such. Going through them I got a nostalgic gut punch and all the memories started flooding over me. I have 3 beautiful daughters and a great wife who's been urging me to find a hobby because there's very little in our house that's mine, or a space that's just for me and I've been searching and this gut punch was exactly what I was looking for. Since the find I've been scouring Ebay and Amazon and spent enough for my wife to question why she told me to find a hobby.
If you couldn't tell by my silly username (which I already bought a VIP membership in hopes of changing, thanks autocorrect) I'm a huge Utah Jazz fan. My dad was in the military and our family stationed in Germany from before I could walk to just before I turned 8. The only time I ever got to stay up past bed time was to watch the Jazz, which was sometimes 1am, and I'd stay up as long as I could. My parents thought it would help build a relationship with my grandparents back in Utah during our once a week phone calls and it ended up more as an obsession. I am also a huge fan and student of the University of Utah (still... the only thing I forgot to procrastinate was procreating) so I'm looking to grow my very humble collection of former players.
I very much hope I can add something to the community and hope I can catch up. I'm still in nostalgic mode, I visited a local card shop a couple weeks a go and instead of buying more new I ended up with a few packs of 1996-97 Topps Chrome and 1 new pack of Panini something or other and pulled nothing great. I'm going to start getting my inventory on here done this weekend, I threw most of my cards away cause they were in pretty bad shape but have a bunch that may be worth something to someone, Kobe and Iverson RCs, bunch of Jordans and Shaqs, guys you'll remember from the 90s.
Teams I collect: Utah Jazz, Utah Utes (college and pro)
Favorite players:
Utah Football: Steve Smith, Alex Smith, Eric Weddle, Devontae Booker, many more.
Utah Basketball: Andre Miller, Keith Van Horn, Andrew Bogut, Luke Nevill, Delon Wright, Jordan Loveridge, sadly not many more.
NBA: John Stockton, Karl Malone, Bryon Russell, Rudy Gobert, Derrick Favors.
Favorite card currently in my collection:
1997-98 Bowman's Best Karl Malone Autograph.

This is just a picture I could find of the card not the actual card its self.
If you made it through that then kudos to you. Hope you're all having a great week, happy hump day the weekend is near.
P.S. If I win this crazy lottery and you have replied to this post with a card who's BV is $100 or less I will buy it for you.Last edited by JazzHole; 01-13-2016 at 07:14 PM.

Welcome to SCF, and back to the hobby! Great introduction. I'm gonna take a guess and say you didn't win the lottery, though ;)

Nope. Did not win the lottery, nor did anyone post any cards. More disappointed by one than the other.
