Sole Production Rights Isn't Right
Man, I've been browsing through eBay and my own card collections recently, and have decided UD's monopoly on the hockey card industry really REALLY sucks. I miss Panini so bad. Score, Pinnacle, Prizm, Certified, Luxury Suite, Contenders, Limited - some very creative and appealing designs and sets. I'd love to see both Panini and Topps get back on the ice at some point. UD's designs leave a lot to be desired IMO, and it would be nice for collectors on a budget to have a better selection of less expensive products.

Couldn't agree more. Panini made some very nice stuff.... and while I'll admit that I bought way more Upper Deck than Panini during that era, I think Upper Deck was doing a better job while they had competition.
The Monopoly is good for nobody except UD and the PA.

Maybe the best way Panini and/or Topps could get back in is by getting rights to produce NWHL/CWHL cards?? I'm sure those leagues would love the sponsorship and publicity. I'm just waiting for the day a Bergeron/Decker captains dual jersey/auto card is produced.

I also miss Panini. Was going through a bunch of my PC stuff last week and some of the cards they produced were just awesome. They were very receptive to the collectors who wanted to see some of their PC players included in products, and not just stuff like Score at that. My Gorges PC really took off to new heights thanks to them, and of course there were some really great Price cards made over the years. I think it says quite a lot about some of their designs & products that UD is importing them and adding their own twist. Contours is going to be a lot of fun if you liked Crown Royale.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I miss Panini as I collected mostly product they released. Still buy them now when my LCS carries it. Upper Deck have some great stuff too, but I just personally aligned with Panini products.

I hold a different opinion and don't miss them at all. Panini dragged the over all value of the market down.

Right? Those Fans of the Game pieces could be pretty awesome depending on the final checklist. I'm personally holding out hope for a Bret Hart auto in there.
