Simply not true. If they don't have to pay as much for each autograph and have fewer in each box, they can charge less per box. And therefore, they will make cards MORE available to the public, rather than less available.
Yeah, right. There are SOOOO many Canadians NOT buying cards this year because of the weak dollar, huh? That must be why UD printed probably twice as many cards as usual, and they are selling out. Your argument to include more autographs in each box would only increase box prices, and you think more collectors whose "wallets are already hurting" would buy more boxes if the prices were higher? I see your understanding of economics is no better than the NHLPA's.
I suppose your reference to your "highly scientific" poll was simply jest because it was far from scientific, since you asked two completely different questions. Yet you harp on the value of one single card and argue that my statement was wrong because of your one data point. I will give you that McDavid's card will hold value regardless of whether it is 1,000 or 500 copies. But what of all the others in the set, and what of all the others in all of the sets since Crosby came along? Would you argue that their value would not be increased if the print runs were cut in half? If you would, maybe you need to go back to school and take that ECON class again.
I am sorry that you are such an Upper Deck lover. Or were you simply a Panini-hater? But anyone (besides someone with a financial interest in UD) who thinks that the card market is better off with an UD monopoly and a lack of competition simply has no grasp of simple economic concepts in a free market economy.
Now I believe I tried to reply to your attack without using any bad language, so you will have to come up with a different reason to suspend me this time.SHARKS and CAPITALS Fan +++ Tomas Hertl cards: 512 & counting Hidden Content ...... Hidden Content

@Sharky94 Thanks for the laughs. I guess you've never looked at my PC and seen all the really awesome Panini cards in there eh? Not sure which hole in the space-time continuum you're pulling that notion that I'm a Panini-hater from; it's certainly from a different plane of reality than the one in which I exist.
Point by point, because my time is better spent elsewhere than wasting it on someone who is constantly harping on any negative aspect of the hobby they can find:
1. Name me a time when we've seen wax prices come down on a year to year basis in hockey cards. Doesn't happen.
2. I didn't say Canadians weren't buying cards, I said that their wallets were hurting. There's a lot of people coming into the market but there's also quite a few folks who are scaling back on their purchases on both the primary and secondary markets. Perhaps you've seen the many threads on assorted message boards discussing the state of the Canadian dollar, perhaps you haven't.
3. Doesn't matter if a Nick Petrecki auto is /699 /249 or /99 and it doesn't matter who is making it: it ain't fetching more than a few bucks. This is how the hobby is and has been regardless of the number of people pumping out their cards. Top players encourage people to buy boxes. Having a ready supply of those cards available while keeping costs in check ensures people keep buying. How many people just stop if they hit 1 of the 999 top rookie cards in SP Authentic? Not many. You get the itch you keep going.
4. I don't know why you feel the need to feel sorry that I like different things than you do--I'm the Canadian in this discussion, after all. Find one statement from me anywhere, any place, ever, where I say that having a monopoly is best for the hobby and best for business. You will not find such a statement.
5. I'm glad that you got the joke. Try to smile more, it's just hockey cards.
Also I don't suspend people for disagreeing with me, regardless of how obtuse and disagreeable they attempt to be. You've got me confused with someone else from another board in another time.

Nobody would ever guess that, since you seem to troll every post I ever write to say how wrong I am. You give far less attention to King Kuba who is far more negative than I am. I simply choose to voice my criticism of what UD does wrong in the hopes that they may someday see the light and change some of the ridiculous stuff they do, instead of always cheering on every decision they ever make, like certain board moderators do. I also don't make snide little personal comments about people on here unless they attack me first.

Tremendous use of false pretenses to try highlighting your points. Comparing yourself to Kuba isn't really the best way to establish credibility.
I dont "troll" people. I leave that to the trolls. I disagree with people, sure, and where appropriate I'll let it be known and why. That's what grown-ups call "having a dialogue."
Over the course of my many years here at SCF and elsewhere I've been accused of being a lover and hater (sometimes on the same day) of pretty much every company that makes or has made hockey cards. I'm not one to deny my passion for this hobby. I've spoken up for all of them more than once and I've also spoken out where they've been wrong more than once. That's the beauty of having a voice and not being afraid to use it: some people will agree some of the time and others will be disagreeable some of the time. Yesterday's ITG shill is today's Upper Deck lover is tomorrow's Panini fanboy. I've always maintained my position is pro-hobby and accordingly I emphasize the positives I see in it. Some choose not to and that's fine but when they're out of line or saying things that don't mesh with my opinion I will more often than not engage those people.
If I didn't love what I do, I wouldn't be here. You, my friend, exhibit so many signs that you don't enjoy virtually any aspect of the hobby in 2016 so I find myself questioning your motives as being less than a mere quest to enlighten moderators stumbling in their blissful darkness as they enjoy hockey cards.

Getting back to the topic at hand, there's a lot of the Silver Foil Board parallels available on COMC for very low prices. Like, less than a dollar for the base cards versions. Accordingly, I'm not going to have to do very much trading for Series 1 once they get the trading platform going which is a shame as I was looking forward to that. Maybe S1 for S2?
That said if the parallels are only $1 a pop, that's not a lot of incentive to go snap up much of any of them except for your main PC players.

This makes me wonder if they'll be more of these "e-pack exclusive" parallels in coming releases? Should be interesting.
Maybe 3 "tiers" of upgrades to acquire 3 types of different parallels.

Great way to get people to rebuy the whole freaking set, just for one extra exclusive, marketing genius!

Doesn't really work that way since it has to be on the epack platform...in my opinion it is for the elite of the elite. By a rough calculation you would have to buy about 3 cases minimum of each UD1 and UD2 release. Just to get one of these rare cards. You have to have alot of money to spend since you cant even sell your cards. These foil YG's which take 5 of each to combine have to sit in a virtual account until Sept.
