Basically, it all comes down to money. As in I don't have any more money hahahaa. When you're a player collector you find that your player falls into a certain $$$ category. Gretzky & Lemieux sell for more than Sakic & Yzerman, who sell for more than Ryan Kesler who sells for more than Brandon Yip or Chris Neil. That isn't a knock against anyone, it's just the way it is. Over the last four years I've determined how much my player "should" sell for at eBay auctions prices, because that's what I usually win them for.........


1/1 NT print plates $6-10 pretty sad

1/1 base parallels $40-60

1/1 relics $50-80

1/1 autos $60-100

1/1 relic/autos $90-150


Now sometimes for crazy patch pieces I've paid a lot more, not OVERpaid mind you, just paid more. Willingly. There are maybe another three or four people chasing Kesler at this point, I only know who one of them is, last month I lost out on two decent cards to a complete stranger because my "formula" failed me. I do know that none of the others are crazy rich either because the insane eBay BINs don't budge.

Anyways, with the CDN dollar the way it is, if I win a card for $29.99 it winds up costing me fifty bucks with shipping. And for fifty bucks I can do a lot better than Ryan Kesler no?? I'd rather get a couple of decent Parkies at the local show or something that Derek's set aside for me at the shop...........

I would so wish that Ed would continue his Kesler pc, and yet I can so see his point. Trying to collect a popular player is so difficult because of the cost. I have the same issues trying to collect Johnny Gaudreau cards.
