Is BGS 9.5 really equal to PSA 10?
Hi folks.
I'm NOT asking which grading service is better - I'm asking if the grades are on the same level.
Basically, if I send in a PSA 10 card, will that translate to a BGS 9.5 grade, and vice-versa?

Hey Tony, there is no guarantee that each grading company will agree on the other's grades. In theory a PSA 10 and BGS 9.5 are both GEM MINT however from my own experience, some PSA 10s have come back as BGS 9s while others crossed over as BGS 9.5s.
You can request a minimum grade from Beckett and they will not crack the card out of the PSA case unless they believe the card will meet the minimum grade you have requested. For example, if you request a minimum grade of BGS 9.5 and they look at the card in the PSA case and deem that it is only a BGS 9, they will leave the card in the PSA case.
Hope this helps.

For vintage the crossover is even less guaranteed as PSA has a higher standard (ie. they don't grade 'sheet cards')
