    pet peeve....

Why do so many people ship cards with sticky scotch tape all over the dang sleeves and packaging??? If people would put in a team bag it wouldn't be a problem... or wrap paper around and tape the paper. What a waste of a sleeve. Nobody wants tape all over their sleeve..

    Anyways... just venting :) LOL

    tape is lighter than paper
tape minimizes card movement. even if you wrapped the card in paper, the card can still slide out a little and there's a higher risk of ruining the corners and edges.

hahaha....your gonna love my package bill!! JK!! i get so many toploaders all taped up, that i actually take the cards i trade out of my nice clean toploaders, and put them in the crappy toploaders cause i was getting tired of sending out nice ones, and getting junk in return!! one thing i do on all my tape jobs is to fold one of the ends of tape over, so that the end of the tape is not stuck to the toploader....it makes it easy to get off, but still leaves tape marks....as far as team bags go, my hobby shop doesnt carry them....i ordered 5 packs on ebay 5 months ago, and they haven't showed up yet, lol....obviously i got my money back from paypal, but that was a 1 and done!! not gonna try that again!!

halekulani... that's funny... if you wrap the paper properly it is just as tight as the tape... as far as lighter, yeah I guess it would cost 2 cents more to ship... lol.
Monkey- you're probably correct. I should just go to shipping in the junk that I get, but I pride myself on taking good care of the cards I get.

    Talk to ya-

Even worse IMO is cards jammed 4 at a time into toploads w/ NO SLEEVES. Surface grade is the most common low grade on all graded cards by a 6:1 margin on all graded cards which state subgrades.

tape can close off the top of a toploader. paper can't. the point of tape is for the top loader to PINCH OFF at the top preventing movement. paper can't pinch the toploader. at best paper would act as a wall. paper takes a ton more effort and on top of that you probably need to tape down the sides to make the creases hold.

    tape > paper.

very true!! if it takes 15 minutes to get a card or cards out of a toploader, something is wrong!!! and the fact that people dont use penny sleeves just blows my mind!! they can be bought anywhere (even wally world) and as the the name implies, they cost a freakin penny!! that is what makes the card "secure" within the toploader, and the surface condition is the "most sensitive" on the card as it is the most overlooked by most.

Paper (index card) over the topload opening, THEN tape over the paper- about 1/8 inch onto the topload. no mess, secure mailing and USE PENNY SLEEVE, Cardboard, Bubble Mailer!

in all honesty, i could care less how much tape is on my stuff when i get it....as long as the card is in good condition!!! i wish some tape was the worst of the problems i have when receiving cards!!
