Report: Sting Retires From Active Wrestling

Long story short ... the wrestling legend messed up his neck real bad at his "WWE Night of Champions" match against Seth Rollins back in September -- and was never able to recover.
Sources connected to Sting tell us he was evaluated by several doctors who all agree -- it's just too risky for the wrestler to get back in the squared circle ... so, he's decided to hang up his singlet.
We're told the 56-year-old was formally diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis -- a condition affecting the nerves that can result in extreme pain and discomfort.
In fact, it's the same condition that forced fellow WWE superstar Edge to retire in 2011.
Our sources tell us Sting may make his official announcement next month at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in Texas ... but we're told it's a done deal.
As far as Sting's future -- it's up in the air. We're told Sting is open to a non-physical role with the company ... but we're told no formal offer has been made.

That quote bothered me because it gives [me] the impression that Sting's injury was his fault when I don't think it was. His injury was sustained due to Rollins' two Turnbuckle Powerbombs. Cervical Spine Stenosis? Jeeze. It sounds like Sting was a quarter inch away from becoming a quadriplegic and that would've been a hard thing to see happen. Especially for Rollins too. The wrestling Gods sure watched over Sting that night.

Anyways, this is very sad that Sting is being forced into retirement. I wished his WWE career was better than what it was. I will never get over the fact in his first career WWE match @ WrestleMania 31 last year (March 2015), he loses to Triple H. He should've won that match, period. And his longtime arch enemies the nWo coming out to "save him"? *shakes head*. I do agree that later in the year (September 2015) @ Night of Champions he loses clean to Seth Rollins. I always believe in putting over the younger talent. Sting should've beat Trips and then lost to "The Future" Seth Rollins. But here we are.

He probably had the worst WWF/WWE career possible. I mean just going back to all the years people dreamed about big matches with him and WWF stars and all we end up getting is HHH and Rollins? I wasn't even that high on a Undertaker vs Sting at Wrestlemania years ago because Undertaker wasn't going to lose so it would have been "boring". Would have preferred a Sting and Undertaker team up versus another mix of wrestlers instead. If you ever would have had a good time to do an Undertaker vs Sting match it would have been the invasion of WCW into the WWE but I think the Undertaker was doing that biker gimmick at the time which really wouldn't have worked well as his normal gimmick.

Agreed. I think Sting also had one match on Raw last year. It was prolly during his feud with Rollins that led to them main eventing 2015 Night of Champions PPV. If my memory serves it was a tag team Raw main event of Sting and Cena Vs. Rollins and Big Show? Anyways, just goes to show how memorable that match was, right?
