    Hot Box myth

Can anyone explain UD, and Topps policy on hot boxes? I've seen a few in Donruss, but never any of the others

Hot boxes vary from product to product.

Some boxes average 2 relics per box((Like Fleer Ultra football has done)) But hot boxes would yield a relic in every other box

Others like Skybox LE would yield a #ed RC or extra relic in every pack.

Its all in variation to be honest.

And to stick on topic LOL, I dont recall hearing of a Topps hot box.

A few years back there were definitely Finest Basketball Hot boxes... ALL REFRACTORS- entire Box! There were sometimes multiples in the same pack... this lead to a short term SP misconception. Apparently, they outfoxed themselves and some employee couldn't distinguish the refractors from the regular cards... I think it was Shaq's second or third year. there are probably other "asleep at the wheel" unintended Hot Boxes as well.

I have never pulled a hot box but I have pulled some hot packs out of donruss products and got a hotpack out of 95 collectors choice where ever card in the pack was a gold sig. And CC is UD so I would assume UD does it.

sometimes a hot box falls one per case. so i assume they opened all but one box and the last box should be the hot box.

So it isn't a for sure hot box, but it is presummed to be the hot box out of the case. Wouldn't spend the money with the chance of it not being the hot box

Heres the link for those who care.

When I was reading the auction I was under the impression that it is not a sealed box so the seller either knows from looking in the box that it is "hot" or that just broke up several boxes to create the hot box.
