I'll be ordering some but what makes me hesitant is how much they will overproduce the Cup. UD is finding ever possible way to over produce every release and I'm worried that because of such the hits will be less (For instance Exclusive YG in series 1) or they will add common rookies to increase the pot.

I hope they don't sell out too much for the cup

Either way, you know that the best of the best rookies will remain at the /99 level. If they were to pump up print runs on the other guys from /249 or increase players or have more non-memorabilia auto rookies /199...that would probably rankle a few folks.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Was talking about the price in general. Not the price in USD and CAD.

Wait, why is 470 in the States and 600 in Canada? That's stupid. It's like Upper Deck purposely makes our price higher just because McDavid was born here. Well I hope McDavid makes millions so he can afford to pay some of us Canadians back.

And Connor McDavid will be in every set UD makes from now until he retires (at the least, and probably well beyond too), unless it's a niche set like all-retired players or all-goalies (and even then UD will probably find a way to squeeze him in like a Goalies-scored-on-by-Connor subset).

McDavid will forever be in every set that includes Wayne Gretzky...

...which means, every set UD ever makes.

Let's just hope they don't pull a page from The Vault and produce a Red/99 set, as well as a Blue/99 and Green/99 version. But because of the success of UD Buybacks and the way the sheeple bought into that concept, I wouldn't hold my breath. I guess people would rather see 300 "different" 1-of-1s than a 1/300.

Upper Deck isn't raising the price. If anyone is, it's the distributors or shops. Each product this season that UD has sold to distributors and Diamond dealers has been the same price as years past. The difference this year is that they are producing 4x5 times more of each product

What, cards numbered to an otherworldly high number like 199? Well, if that's the case, at least the total 199 McDavid collectors will all have a chance to get the card. If they numbered it to 198, there wouldn't be enough, but 200 would saturate the market.

That seems to be the argument made by many out there. I was getting into it with people last night on Facebook who were freaking out that Showcase jacked the SP rookies this year to 299 and were going in some really odd directions, possibly due to lack of historical perspective, I don't really know. I simply pointed out that historically Hot Prospects/Showcase has always "suffered" from some form of "over production" (that might be the overused trope of the year, right up there with "Cash Grab") as back in Crosby's rookie year the release had 177 rookies, 86 of which were non-auto'd /1999, about 40 /999 auto'd rookies, and the remaining 50 were the ARP's at /349 with the handful of SP's at /199...they did trim those down going into 07-08 and then the product was axed. UD has always adjusted print runs based on demand for any given year, and this year is no different than the "hot" years of the past compared to the "cold" years like 12-13 and 14-15.

But to double the print run on The Cup ARP's would result in them having to increase the print run (wider and deeper) on just about every other subset to the point that it would be an exceptionally watered down edition of the product that would hurt it greatly.
