McDavid The Cup Gamer
Not that it makes a difference to me, I won't be chasing this card. Silly me, I'd rather pay my mortgage and eat food. But over the years I have had little to no interest in photo-shoot jerseys. I actually feel they detract from the card. Even if I was buying a Cup RC I didn't really care how many colours I was looking at in the patch, because I equate photo-shoot jerseys with the players bedroom slippers. No need for it. But, with McDavid's Cup RC most likely being game-used, do you think this will increase interest or price? Or, were people going to lose their minds and 401 Ks on this card anyway, so makes no difference?

It will inevitably have a positive net effect.

Do we know that this years The Cup will have Game-Used ARP's, or at least for McDavid?
If so, yes it will drive the price up on average. There are many people with deep pockets that would pay x amount for the card regardless of photo shoot or game used. I would just imagine where most cards level out after the first handful are sold this card would level out at a higher median price.
Just a theory... because of course this is McDavid we're talking about so it's a bad example to prove that theory on :PMaster List: Hidden Content

I won't be chasing the card either, but I suspect that if it is game-used, the expected price for McDavid's The Cup RPA /99 will definitely increase. I'm hoping it is, as it will already make this McDavid mania reach another level of insanity, ahah! Can't wait! It's 2005-06 all over again!

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but hasn't UD already mentioned doing something like this (using actual GAME USED material for patch RC's) multiple times in the past only to see "Congratulations! This event-used memorabilia is certified by blah blah blah" on the backs of the cards? They're already promising actual game used patches in Premier for McDavid's "Mega Patch" cards.
We'll see when it comes out, but it would be a first, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was nothing more than pure marketing.

I'm not sure at all what you mean when you say "it would be a first" for them to have game-used memorabilia included on rookie cards. That statement is absolutely not true...and indeed if they advertised "game-used memorabilia" for certain players and then delivered event-used memorabilia for those specific players, that would constitute false advertising.

I would really love to see an example of this. I personally have never seen a RC card with actual GU material from UD. I could very well be wrong as I have virtually no knowledge of hockey cards produced between 1997 and 2004, a period of significant austerity as far as card collecting went.

I also want to say that there were some gamer-worn memorabilia cards from rookies in Premier last year, but I can't 100% recall which players it would have been.
