    UD Redemptions as e-cards?

Would anyone be interested in UD offering a redemption as an e-card instead of being mailed?

I was just thinking that I get redemptions that I could care less about, but I usually redeem them as opposed to selling them. Then they sit until I clean up the collection, find said cards, and try to figure out the best way to get rid of them, or just hold onto them until the next time I come across it.

But if UD had an option while redeeming a card to either mail or add to your e-card collection, I would probably be more inclined to trade the card away. I like having my Series 1 & 2 Canvas and Jersey cards as part of my e-collection, and traded one of each for cards I actually wanted. In the olden days ;) they would be in a box of my surplus cards.

Would others be interested in having this option for redemptions?

So you're thinking of adding in a Panini Rewards type hybrid thing...that would be interesting.

If they gave you the option, I'd be OK with it. Having more options is always a good thing. But I definitely wouldn't want it to be only an epack option.

It would be nice to be able to have a way to stock your ecard portfolio without just buying boxes and taking chances with that. I have found a bunch of cards people have online that I would like to trade for, but I don't have the right cards in my account that they would like. If you could buy a redemption card for a certain card on EBay, redeem it to get it into your account, and then make a trade for something someone had online, THAT would be great.

Alternately, being able to get a card sent from your COMC account back into your epack account would do the same thing. But I don't ever see that happening...

I definitely would not want it to be an e-pack only thing. using recent Panini cards as an example...

When I hit on a Contenders Tarasenko/Hertl dual auto, I wanted that shipped as soon as it became available, no doubt.

But I also had a redemption for a Crown Royale Tye McGinn Rookie Shadow Box. Nice looking card, but if I had the option to have that stored online instead of having it shipped, and then being able to trade it like we all did when the UD e-cards trading function went live? I would chose that option a whole lot more than having the card shipped.

Perhaps they can give you another option that after a certain time period --2 years-- the card has to either be shipped or transferred into your COMC account. Two years gets you through enough (hopefully) e-card product that if you haven't found a viable trade, you probably won't, at least not online.
@RGM81, I am not familiar with the Panini Rewards. How did\does that work?

@TRDouble In an effort to reduce and phase out redemptions in their products, Panini introduced a Rewards program back in 2014. Since they got out of hockey I can't say whether or not they still have redemptions in their other products but basically how it works is that instead of a redemption card you get a decoy with a QR code and a random (but defined) number of points on it. You then go to https://exchange-paniniamerica.net/ and enter the code, and depending on how many points you have you can get an OK card to a really great card.

One thing that Panini did for the hockey folks with the program was an Icy Blue 1/1 redemption for Prizm. Now, it annoyed a few folks who "had to" chase down another Prizm parallel, but it was a great way to get people's attention and get them chasing those codes. And I love my PK Subban 1/1! LOL

I don't know if Upper Deck would be able to incorporate that aspect of card redemptions into e-Pack, but it would be interesting for sure. Say I've got a Brendan Gallagher Cup auto that I'm just tired of waiting on; let me swap that for something of equal value out of the allotted cards for 2015-16 Ultimate Collection and just like that I've got a great trader.

That's interesting. Instead of pulling from a pool of allotted e-cards though, incorporating exclusive e-cards for this purpose might work.

With the Final Vault 11th cards, creating a pool made up of cards that were returned too late for a product release would be interesting too and cut down on redemptions. This is an assumption, but it seemed like these type of cards made up a product like Rookie Anthology. Even UD puts cards from older product in new products, SPA especially. Take those cards a turn them into e-card redemption replacements instead.

That's not a bad idea. In the end it'll just give people an option to trade it online for another e-card they may want instead of the redemption.

I haven't used e-Packs yet, but this is definitely an interesting idea! :)

The Ice Blue parallel beats the foil parallel for 10 base. No one wants the foil paralles now until they get stranded after S2 comes out and they're short base when chasing the McDavid SSP redemption.

By a country mile. Unfortunately the mass proliferation of all that stuff on COMC has absolutely killed the insert market value for anything related to Series 1. Just look how many Gretzky Shining Stars/Royal Blue/Portraits you can buy for less than two bucks. Criminal, really.
