ED ePack question
Before ePack you never knew if all of a certain card had been pulled, except maybe for 1/1's. You might consider buying a box to get a Hertl HG Glossy not knowing that it was impossible to get one because they had all been pulled.
Since we know the print runs of certain cards and the epack trade feature lets you see who has the card you want (and how many have been pulled) wouldn't it follow that, at some point, you could determine that all of the [card] have been pulled and there is no point buying more packs trying to get one?
I'm probably over-simplifying it, but I recently saw my state lottery's web page shows all of the possible prizes for scratch-off tickets. It also shows how many of each prize have been claimed. Using that you can decide not to buy a particular scratch-off because all of the top prizes have been claimed. Anyone have thoughts?Hidden Content

In theory, yes, but for the ePack stuff - they're only a small portion of the overall packs.
What did they say, 10% of product was helpd back for ePack.... something like that?
So if you really want an Eichel HG from this year's UD Series 2, if 10% of the run was held back for ePack, then it stands to reason that there would only be 1 available.... however 10% of the run doesn't mean 10% of any particular card.... so there could be 3 Eichels in there, and only 7 in the live boxes, or maybe there are none... and they all made it out to the live boxes ?
If you were following a particular low #ed card, and watch online posts about pulls, and what came out of ePack, then yes. Couldn't do it with JUST ePack data.

Interesting question--with ePack Series 1 "sold out" there's no longer the option to try chasing down any particular cards except for trading.
However, say I want a shot at a Fucale YG HG. There's no option presently listed to "Trade For Card" which means either none have been pulled, or one/some have and the owner(s) have locked them or pulled them into the physical realm. Does that increase my potential desire to open a box? Possibly.
As Sean said, the allocation for ePack is maybe 15-20% and not all cards are distributed evenly--maybe they have 2 or none of any individual card. If it's a card like an HG and there's already 2 out there on e-Pack...the odds are not in your favour.
But that's something I say about virtually any individual card. If you go into a box break or even a case break expecting to hit any individual card you are setting yourself up for disappointment. That's why I never really understood the furor some had about McDavid YG HG in Series 1, as if it somehow impacted the likelihood of any one person pulling any one copy of that extremely limited card.
