    What happens to combined eCards?

    When someone combines base cards to get a silver foil or green parallel, the base cards a removed from their inventory. What happens to them after that?

    Are they re-introduced back into ePacks for another buyer to get?
    Do they vanish into a black hole never to be seen again?

    If there are a finite number of Jack Eichel Young Guns; Let's say 100,000 (made up number). You need 5 to combine for a silver foil parallel.
    If 10,000 people combine 5 cards each (50,000 total) that would leave 50,000 un-combined Eichel YG in collector's hands and another 50,000 back in UD's hands.

    Reintroduced: If the combined cards are re-inserted into ePacks then, in the end, there would still be 100,000 Eichel YGs in the hands of collectors. Other than increasing the odds of hitting an Eichel YG, no harm / no foul.

    Vanish: If they vanish into a black hole, that means the 50,000 combined Eichel YGs would cease to exist which would, logically, make the remaining 50,000 "un-combined" cards scarcer and more valuable. In that case, might there be value in holding YGs and letting others combine theirs?

    {As you can see, I have too much time on my hands}

    It's a very legitimate set of questions--unfortunately, the answer right now is "we don't know."

    Back in February, we had a lengthy discussion in this thread: https://www.sportscardforum.com/threa...ghlight=e-Pack

    I posted at the time...

    I think there are three options for those cards. I'll rank them in order of most likely...

    1. Transferred from circulation to redemption/QC replacements
    2. To be used as "buybacks" in a future UD release
    3. Released back into e-Pack circulation

    For a variety of reasons I don't think they'll go with option 3, but 1 & 2 are both plausible scenarios that can have positive benefits down the road.

    I haven't taken a real solid look at the numbers of McDavid or Eichel Silver Foil Boards available on the ePack site/COMC/eBay, but even 20 of each in existence means 100 physical YG's (because those are cards that do actually exist and can be redeemed) that will be going back to UD for their usage in the future.

    Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
