    Comc complaint.

Not really sure where to put this so I'm just putting it here and it's not so much a complaint as its more of a vent.

So last week on ePack I bought a box of MVP and pulled a Pacific Division rookie set (YAY McDavid!) and decided to transfer it to COMC to sell. It gets in my COMC account but I can only sell it as a sealed pack, I can't list the cards individually. I figure I can send COMC Support an email and ask them to open the pack and list the 8 cards individually and I said I'd be more than happy to pay the processing fees on. You'd think that would be all it would take right?

    NOPE!

    Comc replied to my email:

Thank you for contacting us! You're right in that at COMC we deal exclusively with singles. In order to have these cards processed individually, you would need to mark the item as Ready to Ship and then send it to your own COMC Mailbox, where the pack will be opened and the cards processed into your account within 2 weeks. Once done, you could send the Connor McDavid for grading. The Mailbox address is:
    COMC Mailboxes
    c/o (your COMC username)
    6727 185th Ave NE
    Redmond, WA 98052
For additional information, the Mailbox service is described here: http://www.comc.com/mailbox.aspx
Please let us know if you have any further questions!

So let me get this right, for a pack of cards I already have on their site that they have in hand if I want it to be opened I have to have it shipped from them back to them? Why can't they just pull the pack out of their inventory without making me pay $3.25 to ship it to exactly where it already is?

I'm fine paying processing fees on the cards but why would I want to pay shipping fees when they already have them?

$3.25 for shipping and $4 for mailbox submission fees, $7.25 for cards that they already have in their possession just to have the pack opened. In a perfect world they should avoid the shipping, have someone pull the pack from their inventory, open it and give the cards to the processing team and charge the standard processing fees ($.25)... at least that's what I thought would happen when I pulled it on ePack and transferred to COMC.

Just a heads up to everyone here in case you pull an MVP redemption pack on ePack and want to send it to COMC.

Wow, that's pretty convoluted! I wonder if someone at COMC would actually pack it and mail it, then someone else would open it and process it. Classic!

Someone at COMC needs to realize that their agreement with UD on the ePacks is going to require a little flexibility to be built into the system, along with process changes. They really need to consider selling lots as well, even if they are only certain pre-defined subsets or something.

They better pack it and mail it after they made me pay for shipping. If I don't get a shipping confirmation with trackng # like I do for every other COMC order I will be pissed and you can bet I will be on the phone calling customer service.

This is their crazy rule they made, if they are going to charge me for shipping I better see that they shipped it darn it.

That is truly bizarre. I have had several cards shipped via COMC from epacks. Still can't figure out how they decide what cards get a top loader and which get just a sleeve. In the same shipment I tend to get a random mix

This is in hindsight, but are you able to open the pack on Epack, and then transfer the cards over to COMC individually?

Operations like COMC have to stick to the automated processes they have in place. For the amount of cards they manage they are insanely efficient. I understand a rule like this doesn't make sense to a lot of people but if you've ever worked in a large manufacturing or production environment you'd understand that some policies that don't make sense to the public are needed to run a business.

No the pack could not be opened on epack either, it would sit in you epack collection as a full pack.

You are exactly right about there needing to be a paper trail. After I posted this thread I had sent COMC another email, they responded to it today with the following:

    Matthew,

I neglected to mention that I would be refunding the shipping once I saw the order in our system, since, you're right, we're not actually shipping it anywhere. Requesting the shipment is how our system keeps track of the ID # and the "paper trail" and everything, however, which is why it's done this way. I've refunded $3 to your credit balance. My apologies for omitting that detail.

    Have a great day!

I just wish that would have been mentioned in the original email and then I would have never made this thread to begin with.

At least we now found out COMC isn't actually silly enough to actually mail themselves their own inventory.
