86 Fleer Jordan RC, real?
Hi Guys, I need some second opinions from fellow collectors about the authenticity of a PSA slabed 1986 Fleer M Jordan RC. I had a Pujols RC auto listed on eBay and was contacted by another buyer who offered a trade for the Jordan. After the auction ended, he contacted me again and after some thought I agreed. He sent these images of his card. I checked the serial number on PSA and the number checks out, the card seems to look legit also. But I've heard stories of fake Jordan RCs and even fake Jordan's that scammers were able to encase in a slab to look even more authentic. I was hoping to get your opinions on the card. I've also considered having the card sent to PSA for a rereview.

Run! Not kidding. It's fake and it's scary as hell to see how well they're making the slabs now.
This guy trying to trade via ebay messages seems to be his strategy. If you don't mind sharing his username, it'd be helpful for others to avoid.

Thanks for the reply, anything standout showing its a fake? I've heard looking at certain areas for colors or detail in lines around basketball and bull logo. You're right it is crazy how well they can make prints of these Jordan's and you can't even really feel safe about graded and slabed ones either. His username was goatcollector but I think he changed it in the last day or two.

There's a handful of things to look at and when you look at everything together, there's just too many things off.
The counterfeiters have gotten better at fixing all the tell-tale signs: clarity of bulls eyes on the back, the darker yellow in the fleer logo on the front, the decimal in the 27.2. I now focus on the text and spacing, particularly in the "ORDA" of Jordan on the front. And also "Chicago Bulls" on the back above the logo. Compare those very closely to a PSA 6 or 7 and I think you'll see it. There's other things that are off, but these are the most noticeable.
There are lots of guys that experts on the text and spacing of the letters on the PSA slab. I bet those guys can point out some issues with it.
Other red flags: trading via ebay (no recourse for you when you learn it's fake...if he sends it at all), changing username recently.

The text of "MICHAEL" on the front is pretty bad as well. You just really have to nit-pick.

Just an update, I didn't make the trade. The guy was pretty pushy though he ended up mailing me the card anyways! It arrives in a plastic mailer envelope, when I open it the case is cracked in half, I was shocked if it was my card I would've been going crazy. Anyways I email the guy and tell him what happened and that I will ship it back the same day and make sure to package it correctly so it arrives in no worse condition. It proceeds to offer me another PSA 9 Jordan that he happens to also have, crazy. I tale him again I'm not interested in trading. To make a long story short I continue to receive emails with offers for his other Jordan! About a week after I sent his original PSA Jordan, it is returned because of "no such address" and I haven't heard back from in in regards of of receiving it or to give me his correct mailing address. So luckily, thanks to Davis's advice I avoided this scam- if you come across him on EBay beware... He has also been changing his username.
