    Clearing Out All the Fluff

After nine years of collecting you pile up a whole bunch of filler/fluff/crap/whatever you want to call it. All those inserts/parallels, autos of guys who never went anywhere, jerseys of guys who have been traded, etc. Unless you've got a lot of dedication or patience to list it all, it's just gonna sit there. That's what has happened with me the past couple of years. I had a good chat with my guys at Players Choice and they're going to take it all away. We're gonna finagle pricing and what type of credit I can get tomorrow for it all.

I'm hoping to get enough to start fresh with a new box of stuff, or at the very least a couple decent PC cards. It will be so nice to have the space available again--I nuked the Traders portion of my Inventory and it looks like about 2,500 cards gone. Buh-bye OPC retros and UD Shining Stars and all that type of stuff.

Have any of you guys ever done that? What was your experience? Any suggestions for what to crack if I score enough for a box? LOL

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I've had a reasonable amount of success clearing out that kind of stuff on Kijiji in mixed lots. Usually I'll throw 500-1000 base cards into a box with a couple dozen cheap jersey and autograph cards and a few dozen inserts/parallels/rookies and can sell it for $50-$100

Whenever I amass a bunch of inserts or cheap autos/game used I always just sent them out to COMC but always made sure to check COMC first to see if any of the cards were already listed there and if there was I wouldn't send mine if the ones already on COMC were $1 or less. The inserts I'd get stuck with because COMC already had them for cheap I would give to my friend who sets up at the local show to give away to kids (usually only 50ish cards every 3-4 months).

But then I also quit busting wax once Panini lost its license so I haven't had any pile of game used or inserts in a while.

Ive been selling team/player lots on ebay figuring at average of .25- 50 cents per base, insert,rc, parallel or #'d. I've cleared out several this way and got alot more than I ever thought I would.

For me, all that kind of stuff went to COMC... where I had decent luck moving it out some of it, and then sold the full portal earlier this year (had about 4500 cards in there).

Will have another 600 cards loaded in there in January..... getting rid of a lot of that stuff continues :)

Nice to read all your answers. I've got to that point too. Two shelves full of binders and boxes.

I'm working on putting all the oversized stuff in a box to sell in a cardshop, and for the rest, I'm open. From selling the oversized stuff, I hope to be able to sell sets to the same cardshop after. For the stuff not too expensive to ship, I hope to move them slowly online over time. I give the base cards to the kids on Halloween day.

I changed my breaking habits, I'm more picky on what I break and I enjoy all-hits products.

@odjickfan raises a great point - as much as some of us may not like the end of base sets and such, having the all-hits products helps reduce the clutter bigly.
