"Why is eBay making these changes for eBay Top Rated Sellers?
We are making changes to the Top Rated program to reflect both current buyer ecommerce expectations and seller velocity expectations to grow your business."
Uh huh, they actually have the gall to try to spin it as helping the sellers.

People rag on me for not having a PayPal account. "Get with it, you're living in the past" they say. I have even had a couple people tell me "if you don't have PayPal, you don't matter". Yup, they actually said it!
People love PayPal because they get paid immediately. Big whoop. After hearing all the stories about crazy fees, customer service nightmares, and now this...I say I look pretty smart for NOT having PayPal.

Well I didn't need this news. I've never seen a company treat it's customers (sellers) so poorly. Everything they do handcuffs us and pulls money from our pockets.
Sad state.

Hmm, just for the record, PayPal is not increasing it's fees. It's eBay that is.
The two are no longer one and the same...

As 26CRDS pointed out, ebay is not Paypal.
Paypal is a payment system, and ebay is the auction platform.
As a top-rated seller on ebay, your Ebay fees will now be 9% of the final value.
Add on top the Paypal fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for non-international transactions.
$100 USD Ebay sale inc shipping assuming no listing costs.
Before - $8 + $2.90 + $0.30 = $11.20
After - $9 + $2.90 + $0.30 = $12.20

They said the exact same thing when they reduced the EBay Cash Rewards from 2% to 1%.
I guess now, since you have to buy twice as much to get the same rebate, you get more crap to get the same rebate, right? "But doesn't that cost twice as much?" Oh, that's unimportant details...SHARKS and CAPITALS Fan +++ Tomas Hertl cards: 512 & counting Hidden Content ...... Hidden Content

I am well aware that the two are now separate entities, but it doesn't matter...they are still linked in a sense, because most sellers require PayPal or there's no deal on ebay. Both systems are flawed and it isn't worth the headache to get PayPal account. If the ebay fees don't get you, PayPal's fees will.
I don't see much logic to "get with it" if I gotta pay crazy extra fees one way or the other.
