Done with the Hobby
This thread is not for sympathy or complaining. Its about reality. It is time I take a break again from the hobby. As much as I like meeting new traders and helping others out, the other day I realized I needed a break.
First I took a break from SCF in 2008 and 2009 because of cancer. Well.....I have cancer again and there are so many other issues I am dealing with compared with the first. Fluid around the lung, a punctured lung thanks to a doctor plus I am limited to lifting 10 lbs. of weight due to some issue with my bones. I went from a full-time Fire Captain to being a shell of a person. Already have lost 40 lbs. and I am going in the hospital, again, tomorrow to drain the fluid for the fourth time. Hopefully these cancer meds will kick in soon and I won't have that problem anymore. Sometimes I don't have the energy to get out of bed much less go to the post office to mail off a package. I will finish off one more deal and if there are any that have asked about anything, I will have to apologize because I'm not doing anymore for a while.
Part of my reasoning for taking a break is not just my health but because of a trade I just received. It upset me as a trader and a person. When you open your mailbox you smell something but don't think of it because there are a lot of mailboxes tied in together. But then I opened my envelope to get a head rush of cigarette smoke. First as a firefighter I can't stand it because it just puts another nail in our coffin with all the other crap that we breathe but someone would think it was ok. The cards are beyond help, as far as I can tell. I can't put them with other cards to make sets because everything else will smell. I had to put everything outside just so it wasn't in my apartment. If you want to think I'm whining, then I'm whining. I just didn't think it was the proper thing to do.
So I need a break and focus on a few other things. I am going to beat this thing into submission again and I'll start trading when I am ready to jump in.
Have a wonderful day. Think of your fellow traders when you send anything out.

Dang...makes all my problems and things I whine about seem so minute and ridiculous. Our thoughts are with you during this time and if you beat it once you can beat it again. Hope to see you back on here in the future but for now focus on your health. And yes, I agree with you on the smoke smell. It should be noted that they are from a home that has smokers or something..

Your not the only one who else does not like smoke on their cards as I seen others say the same thing. Wish you the best in trying to get better.

This type of stuff can be scary, stay strong and positive. You overcame it before, you can do it again. Bless.

I bought a card off Ebay and it smelled like cat urine/strange smoke, I'm almost convinced it was near a meth lab.
