BV Help! 1997-98 UD Game Dated

    Hey all,

Just need some help trying to confirm if I have the following cards:

1997-98 Upper Deck Game Dated Memorable Moments:
    - 1 MJ, 2 Anfernee Hardaway, 1 KG

In the latest version of Beckett i've got it says odds of getting such a card is 1 in 1500, my brother also has a MJ card. I find it highly unlikely we got 5 cards at odds of 1:1500! (although one can dream....)

The sample pic in the Beckett looks exactly like what I've got (the sample is of Allan Houston). Also i can't find the card anywhere else.

Can someone please help me find my cards?!?!
    Cheers, Bolts

The 1:1500 cards look EXACTLY like the base cards except they are "refractor like" and the gloss is shiny & bubbly. They are also called "Gamed Dated Foils".

If the gloss on your cards is like all the other cards, you have the normal Game Dated base cards.

    This is a common mistake.

    Thanks andy,

I checked the cards and it has the same border image in the pic in the beckett, its silver and numbered the same as the base cards. Yet the base cards list doesn't have any mention of the game dated part (like a GD note or RC Rookie Card note etc). I haven't been able to tell if the cards are different in appearence (shiny and bubbly).

So i'm still unsure, if you could clarify it would be greatly appreciated as if they were the more valuable & rare verison they would be my prized cards!

    Thanks, Bolts

Ok, trust me on what I say. I have one of the 1:1500 foil cards.

Let's take the Michael Jordan cards from beckett.com as an example.
    1997-98 Upper Deck 18 Michael Jordan $2.00 $5.00
1997-98 Upper Deck Game Dated Memorable Moments 18 Michael Jordan $60.00 $150.00

Both of these cards are card #18, the backs look identical, the fronts look identical (same border, same picture, same "Game Dated" info). If you scan them in, they will look identical.

The only difference between the two cards is the gloss or finish on the front of the card. Take some regular cards and your game dated cards, and put them under the light. If the gloss is all the same, you have all base cards. If one of them is bubbly, foily, and not a smooth finish...you have a 1:1500 insert.

It's the same technique you use to find a Topps refractor (before they started stamping "Refractor" on the back).

    Hope this helps.

Yeh drexler, that would be good.

Do the pics show the difference between the base card and Game Dated foils?

    Guess i'll find out,
    Cheers, Bolts
