Need opinion on my next box :)

I would like to get you opinion on something.

I was thinking about purchasing my next box of hockey and was debating on certain products.

First off I do not buy a lot of boxes per year as I tend to purchase the cards I really want, either on ebay or this forum. I’m a lower end collector that likes to purchase some boxes of SPX, Artifacts, MVP, Ultra when they come out, when they are affordable (under 100$). I normal buy 1 box or 2 and do the base sets and trade the cards I don’t want.

However, from 2014-15 to now, I find that these products offer less for the prices (SPx- less packs and good players and Artifacts ) or less expensive but not as fun as previous years (MVP when we use to have the one on one jerseysJ and Ultra with the uniformity jersey and possibility one autograph)

Therefore, I was leaning towards going back to Upper Deck Serie 1 and 2, maybe to start back with 2015-16. I would like to do the base sets and trade the rest (even YGs). The reason I’m leaning towards this products compare to other ones listed above, is because you get some cool cards, jersey, possibility of good Young Gunz and the most important thing for me, lots of cards for your money and possibility of completing the series with 2 boxes.

Also, I find that on this forum, 75% of the product in trades are UD (Canvas, Young Gunz, UD Game Jersey), therefore, I have a better chance of moving the cards around.

My question is this, would you recommend another product (under 100$ CAN a box) or you think that UD is my best bet for what I’m trying to accomplish here?

You will get serie 2 for under 100$ but good luck for series 1. Prices are usually 150-200$. You can't get much now for 100$ unfortunately.

I would try for Series 2. A chance at some real goodies, plus you could move the ones you don't need fairly easily.

And I moved this to the Hockey Card Forum instead of the S&T forums. Should get more eyes on it, plus it's more appropriate IMO.

Retail S1 is good if you want to scratch that itch and want to try for a big YG. Not a bad choice if you happen to hit it big. You won't get any YG Exclusives, HG's, Acetate YG's, Rookie Materials (I believe a few more sets are excluded as well) in Retail, but it's good for hitting that one top YG if you happen to do so.

Therefore, if I may ask, other that UD Ser 1 or 2, what would be your second and third recommendations based on my requirements?
