‘Proof’ Eli Manning was in on Giants memorabilia scheme
A smoking gun email from Eli Manning proves he quarterbacked a conspiracy to defraud collectors by pawning off phony game-worn gear as the real deal, according to court documents obtained by The Post.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP, who has a contract with memorabilia dealer Steiner Sports, instructed a team manager to get the bogus equipment so it could be sold off as authentic, the papers say.

Worst nightmare as a Giants fan and a Manning PC guy. Never thought he was that kind of guy.....well on the bright side maybe I'll be able to pick up some of his items I need for cheap.

A nightmare for sure. I just wonder how many more players might do this than we want to know.

If he knew he had to fulfill an obligation, just have a 2nd helmet with you, wear it on the sidelines when the Defense is on the field, and consider it Authentic Game Used.

This is the more intriguing part to me. Because logically thinking you would expect maybe a minor player to be doing something like this. If somebody who is on the star level of Eli is doing this you can figure this is somewhat common league wide and probably something that happens in other sports too.Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

Yep and what does it mean to the whole industry as a whole when it comes to authentication of memorabilia?

The fact is that this is the 2nd time Eli has been associated with doing something like this. With the values of the current helmets, and the re-sell value that could be gone after with a good lawyer, he could find something in some trouble in the coming months. While I know that this isn't the Patriots, Eli is a very well known and respected (can't believe I wrote that) guy. The NFL can't be happy with these findings and if they keep true, he could find himself suspended, fined, who knows.

This article reflects the poor credibility that many media outlets have today.
“2 helmets that can pass as game used. That is it. Eli,” Manning wrote to equipment manager Joe Skiba from a BlackBerry on April 27, 2010, according to the documents.
Less than 20 minutes later, Manning wrote to his marketing agent, Alan Zucker, who requested the helmets, saying: “Should be able to get them for tomorrow.”
2 helmets that could pass as game used. What could those be? Maybe helmets that were game used. All people have to do is accuse these days and the media along with its followers will deem people guilty. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but it certainly isn't proof.Last edited by kdnist; 04-16-2017 at 05:49 PM.

@kdnist
"“2 helmets that can pass as game used."
If you wanted game used helmet why say CAN PASS? Saying that to me definitely warrants a investigation.

It can be interpreted different ways. But it certainly isn't "proof". Game used helmets can pass as game used helmets, however. How would this quote prove that his memorabilia was any less authentic?
