    Question..........

Ive watched football for some years now.......but this year.... today I was watching the Rams Giants game and couldnt help but wonder when the officials go to measure for a first down how come they bring the chains from all the way across the field and not just bring out the chains closest to the ball?....... I just find it weird but maybe theres a rule or reason for it. Could someone explain?.......

I think the actual chains are only on one side of the field. I think they have down markers on both sides but not chains. Well that's my story anyway.

What Chris said is correct... only 1 side of the field has chains... the other side just has markers.
