Greetings everyone!
Hi there!
I joined this terrific website looking for advice on my card collection. Yes, this is another what the heck do I do with these cards discussions! I have a bankers box filled with baseball, basketball, football, and hockey cards from the mid 80's and early 90's that I do not know what to do with as they no longer have any personal value to me. What is the best way these days to determine the realistic value of these cards? Is Beckett still the way to go? If there are any cards with real value, I will pull those out and put the rest up on Craigslist $10. Maybe someone has a kid who will enjoy playing with them.
Thanks!
Dan

Welcome Dan to SCF! There are a lot of Rookie Cards in the middle 80's to early 90's in all the sports! Clemens, Puckett, Jeter in Baseball. Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman in Football. There are a lot more also. Not sure in Basketball and Hockey!
Looking for Aaron Judge cards, current Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs!

Yes Beckett would probably be a good way to go but with all the different sports it doesn't really make financial sense to buy a book for each sport since you will probably spend more than you will sell most of the cards for. So my advice would be to break down the cards into the different sports and then organize by set. After you do that you can check out eBay for what cards from those sets sell for the most. For example in 1993 Topps the major card is a Derek Jeter rookie. If you have that it is worth around $10 but the rest of the cards are pennies. So then you can scroll eBay and see the prices and cards going for the most and then just see if you have any of those cards. If not you probably don't have something of value and I'd but it into the Craiglists pile. Might take some time but it could be fun if you find a bunch of cards with a lot of value in there.

does anyone sell old copies of Beckett? I would take a 3 month old copy for a buck... its not like the values swing wildly by issue.

Welcome to SCF Dan, have fun here, enjoy yourself, and make sure you update your profile so everything is correct. That way, you will have that No Trade / Sale tag removed from your profile.

Dan welcome to SCF!!! There are a lot of traders on here as well as buyers. The trick is figuring out who is who!! It may take a little time. Just watch the boards and the threads but there are plenty of people on the site who are willing to do both. Cheers bro

Welcome to the site!
The best way to determine what your cards are worth is to look at completed listings on eBay. Beckett can give you a value of a card at $100BV but it may only sell for $20
