Not only the NBA but I'm pretty sure Upper Deck would be out of business by now if it wasn't for Jordan and Nike would be struggling as well. Nike just complained that they made almost nothing on Tiger Woods over his golf career with their line and without Jordan they'd be likely nothing by now. Maybe Gatorade too.

well to be fair, golf could never generate the same revenue as basketball from a purely numbers standpoint. given the cost of marketing today, the amount of money they would make compared to basketball is pennies and that probably cuts further into the ROI.
