Is Theft the Greatest Form of Flattery?

So, this is interesting. I was doing a little eBay searching when I came across the following listing. I have since reported it so I'm hopeful it will be taken down but if you want to search for him, the seller is mr.0ddball420

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOE-MONTANA....wAAOSwHLNZS7kZ

Based on what I can tell, this seller sells mostly custom cards. Problem is...a bunch of them are stolen designs. I know that because approximately 20 of the cards he currently has listed I created. I have never sold a single one of my creations and have never given anyone permission to do so. The card in the auction above is one of them. I have reported all my customs to eBay that he currently has listed...but I don't know if they will do anything about it.

In case they pull the auction, here is the eBay listed photo of the card:

I normally post my customs online on a small sports card message board...here is the image that I posted to that site:

As you can see, the cards are identical...right down to the card being #8 (it's #8 because it was the 8th card I did in my "random" custom set). The only difference is he has crudely photoshopped out my "created by" line at the bottom of the card (and the line where I give credit to the original Topps design).

The designs were stolen from here:

I'm not sure why I am complaining about this here...but it really irritates me. I guess I should be surprised this has happened though. I suppose it means my work is good.

I'm pretty sure there was another guy on here who had some guy steal his images he made on his website and used them to make cards and sold them on eBay. I'm thinking it was in the baseball section of the forum but I can't locate the thread right now or I'd post a link to it. So I'm guessing this problem is way more common than people realize with people stealing other people's designs to profit from it.

It probably is. I'm just a little irritated by it. I created them for the fun of it and have no intention of profiting off of it on my own (plus the design templates are probably copyright violations anyway). There probably isn't anything I can do about it other than report it and try and annoy the seller.

    It is what it is.

I think my favorite one that he stole is the 1989 Topps Traded custom of Joe Montana. It's a simple design that I did for a custom card tutorial that I wrote for that website. Literally step by step instructions on how to make the card. Oh all the cards to steal...that one seems a little silly since anyone could easily make it. LOL.

Well for what its worth, its a great custom

    LOL. Thanks.
