I also don't think that the price of the Matthews YGs (or his other RCs) are going to drop anytime soon. Unless he suffers from the sophomore jinx, I think his value is only going to continue to climb. If you need that YG, you might want to get it prior to start of training camp.

Working on it...Until last year, my strategy on expensive cards was always to just open more wax because opening more wax is fun, and i get other stuff too, but since 15-16 the absolutely insane prices of Series 1 and 2 hobby boxes especially after launch has made my ongoing strategy impossible

I suppose if I can't put it together before the price climbs much further I could just give up on the concept of set building, but that's not a bridge I'm willing to cross quite yet.

LOL I think you just summed up the existential question for collectors everywhere ... to bust wax or not bust wax!

Yeah, I hear you. I was in the same boat as you with McDavid last year. I had opened 2 or 3 hobby boxes and about 10 blasters from Walmart and never got squat. I considered buying more wax and just said to hell with it and bought a BGS 9.5 McDavid YG on eBay for about $280 USD. Seeing how the McDavid's haven't cooled off, (and probably won't) it was the right choice for me. Good luck with the Matthews YG hunt!

Way she goes sometimes heh. Last year I got McDavid, Panarin, Larkin, etc very easily...this year I busted 4 hobby boxes of series 1, 2 hobby and 2 retail boxes of series 2, a couple blasters and a pile of loose packs (and some group breaks). No Matthews, No Laine, No Marner, No Tkatchuk (did get Nylander and Puljujarvi though)
