Question James Conner 1/1 Immaculate - Less than perfect

Just wondered what your guys take is on imperfect 1/1's from panini and their collectibility. I'm collecting him pretty big right now. Here is the link to the ebay auction. Long story short, check out the auto smudge and notice the lack of shield/logo/swoosh for the patch. I was already planning on getting this card, and then I saw the listing this morning and am having second thoughts. Your opinions would be appreciated. I'm sure we have all been in this spot before.

Normally I don't think damage to a 1/1 hurts it that much unless the autograph is damaged or faded and in this case it is. I don't know if this will be the majority opinion but mine is since there are so many 1/1 rookie autographs now that I'd pass on this for now and put that money towards a better one.

Even more sad, theres another James Conner 1/1 from Immaculate already listed. I looked at the checklist, and depending on the rookie there are a half dozen 1/1 basic RPAs. The only difference on the card is the patch. There are brands, team logos, bowl logos, tags etc. In my opinion, the patches are too small. The second 1/1 listed is an ACC conference patch and all you can see is one C. Also, the corners are all beat up like it was rattling around in the box or got thrown down a sidewalk. 2 1/1s already in subpar condition. I think I agree with you and will be passing.

When I was young, I was really picky about my cards. All corners had to be perfect. As I got older, and to this day, I do prefer the corners to be sharp. However, now I like to collect the serial numbered cards, even if I have several of the same card. I learned that these cards will come out of the packs damaged. It's how they are packed, and the thickness of the card. It's something that I have been learning to accept. If I want that specific number, and it's damaged, I have to accept it as is or move on. I love 1/1's. Damaged or not, if i want it and I can get it, I will. I'm happy to have it in my collection.

    But that's me.

If you are having 2nd thoughts, then pass. If you really want the card(s) in your collection, go for it.

If this were for my PC and I could afford it I would go for it. I don't think I would pay that much though. I really like it even with the corners a bit damaged. The edges and corners are typical for Immaculate and if it's staying in your collection than that would be something I could overlook for a 1/1.
