I wish I could point you in the right direction but it's a decision you have to make.
Bowman Chrome by Topps year in and year out is the best.
Stadium Club by Topps has the best pictures.
Sweet Spot by UD is very very nice.
Fleer Flair and Playoff Absolute have some great stuff.

It all depends how much cash you have to spend.
Get a subscription to Beckett or/and Sports Collectors Digest to get a feel for what really is out there and what is coming out.
Keep an open mind and go after what you like and can afford.

I'm looking forward to Game Face by UD in a couple weeks and then will wait on Bowman Chrome unless something new interupts that plan.

Better yet, drop by your local B. Daltons or Waldenbooks, and read the Becketts for free.

Saves you from having to buy a Beckett for baaseball, basketball, and football.

Hockey, too, if you're a fan there.

Upper Deck usually produces the most collectible inserts and sets. However, I think we all agree Topps is the best known; the old standard in some instances.

Each set offers something different. You might consider stopping by your local card shop, and checking out a few packs of a few different things that peak your interest. If you've got a few $$ to toss into trying something out...
