I'll be a little different, and I usually like last name first (McDavid, Connor). When looking at lists, you will have more duplicates of first names as to last names to look at. This will separate it a little. But when searching for cards, I typically only search last name. Never added the first name to my search. Maybe its laziness on my part haha. When using the search feature, you will get there either way.

Connor McDavid.
I'm not a fan of last name first on tradelists, but that's just me.

In all honesty, I dont see the need to put a 1st name on any trade list. 1st initial is all thats needed when 2 players have the same last name.
I know a little off topic, but if this is for a trade list, please dont make one alphabetically by players name. I find these lists the most annoying to look at.
IMO, a perfect trade list is:
- Year order
- Set alphanbetically
- Same cards from same set grouped together
Its easy to CTRL F a players name when going through lists. Its hard to do it for specific sets

This is what I'm working on. Always willing to take suggestions/comments on what I'm doing. I will probably add a column on my sales price, still trying to figure out where that should go and if I want to maintain it to that degree.
