"New" to forum with a couple of questions

    Hello all
I've been signed up with SCF for awhile but never posted. I'm a big of sports and love collecting memorabilia including cards. I have a few projects that are a bit ambitious so hopefully someone can help me out,
I've been wanting to collect all perfect game pitchers starting from Lee Richmond, John Ward, Cy Young etc. Yes, I know.. To make it harder on myself, I want to find the rookie or closest to it. So far, I've found the John Ward (Allen & Ginter 1887-88?) but no luck with Lee Richmond or Charlie Robertson. Does anyone know if these even exist?
Also, regarding the grading companies. PSA and SGC seem to be the go-to for vintage. Why is Beckett not good for this type of card? I was hoping to do all my grading in one place but..
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Mike

Welcome! From a quick search Lee Richmond's earliest card was 2011 TRISTAR Obak #61. For Charlie Robertson his earliest cards were 1922 W573 #108 and 1922 W575 #105, but neither has a RC designation. Maybe others can chime in. Good luck with your collection!

Beckett isn't good for vintage because those other grading companies basically specialized in vintage and have all the "experienced" vintage graders on staff. Beckett cares more and knows more about modern stuff it seems.

I like the BGS grading with the modern but I can also do PSA for those if I'm doing vintage also. It's like $10 ea for a 10 lot so it makes sense.

Welcome to SCF! I have only used Beckett and don't do vintage so sorry I can't help you with that. Enjoy!
