Michael bennett: Innocent victim or race-baiting liar?
AFTER reading Michael Bennett's letter
AND reading the Las Vegas Police Union letter
AND wathing this video
What are YOUR thoughts?
Do you think Bennett was an innocent victim of police racism or a race-baiting liar ... or a mix of the two?

A liar for sure. Police already have a super negative stigma without idiots like him adding fuel to the fire by using their celebrity status. I hope he gets disciplined by the league.

If some NFL "athlete" can't outrun out of shape Vegas cops he shouldn't even be in the league

I love the comments, one against Bennett, one against the government itself and one just flat out hilarious!
As for my personal thoughts on this issue ... I don't see how Bennett can pretend this was an act of white racism by the Vegas police when both cops were also minorities, so I do think he's race-baiting ... however I don't think the NFL will discipline him as lying and race-baiting aren't as bad as possibly okaying the deflating of a pigskin I guess, lol.

I also find it hilarious that the stats Bennett referenced to prove blacks get shot by cops more than whites on average, also proves that whites get shot by cops around 250% more on average than "Islanders (i.e. Hawaiians, Samoans, Tongans, Fijians, etc) " ... there must be an "Islander Privilege" problem in this country ... perhaps a group called "White Lives Matter" should be organized to protest the discrimination they face and the obvious advantages Islanders have, lol

As a Seahawks fan, I could go the route of defending Bennett. However, I will wait and see how this all plays out. There's a lot going for it. Are there cops in the country out of control? Yes. Is hate and racism running rampant in the country? YES! Could Bennett have been profiled because of his skin or because he was running? Possibly. Was everyone told to run and he did what he was told? Possibly. Did the cop do what Bennett said was done to him regarding the gun to his head and the statement about blowing his head off? Possibly. It is ironic that the body cam happen to not be on. Could the Vegas PD, who is known for being rough, be covering their fellow officers? Possibly. Could Bennett be making stuff up to cover for something he did or for someone else? Possibly. It would be very stupid for Bennett to lie knowing cops wear body cams, there are plenty of cameras in Vegas, and people with cell phones taking video. And, after they found out who he was and that he had no involvement, they apparently released him without an apology or with reason, so Bennett says. So, I will not say Bennett is lying or guilty. I will not say Vegas PD is lying or didn't do what Bennett said happened. I will sit back and wait for the conclusion.

^ Wow, someone who doesn't just jump to conclusions and rush to judgement, how refreshing!

I do NOT think that Michael Bennett is a race baiting liar.
I DO think that the problem lies in how police are hired (candidates with IQs that are too high are rejected: http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=95...1#.Tv-OZSNWplw) and trained (beat up the perp first, cover up and ask questions second) and equipped (tanks and machine guns for local police? Really? That's going to end well *sarcasm*). Racial tendencies in the ways that individual officers carry out their duties certainly exists, but the issue, to me, is that nobody is safe, not just visible minorities. There's still zero accountability for officers who act in criminal ways on the job, and in shameless denying and covering up of the actions of those criminal officers by their departments and fellow officers. Nobody is immune, and by focusing on the racial element, the bigger picture is missed. That's not to say that the racial element isn't valid.

^ I don't disagree with your second paragraph ... one of the most obviously mentally disturbed and violent kids I went to high school with who could never have got into a university and was always in trouble for fighting in high school was easily accepted into the Police force ... sad.
However, HOW can you say that Michael Bennett is definitely not a "race baiting liar" AND also say that race didn't come into play in his detainment when Bennett pretended the only reason he was detained was because he was black and the officers (who he conveniently failed to mention were also minorities) were racist?
How can both things be true? If the cops weren't racist, wouldn't that mean Bennett's statements were lies and race-baiting? Please explain.
Personally ... I think Black Lives Matter is nothing more than a black version of the KKK so I think anyone associated with them could be guilty of race-baiting ... however, Bennett is entitled to his own opinion and I imagine he definitely could have felt as if he was singled out due to his skin color, so I'm not condemning him for his letter or anything like that ... it's just reprehensible that everything seems to be about race and identity politics these days ... people are people and they all have both good and bad in them.
