Erik Cole retires from hockey as a Hurricane
Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed left wing Erik Cole to a ceremonial contract. Cole subsequently announced his retirement from his playing career in hockey.

My first thought was "Wait, Erik Cole hadn't retired already?"
I see he last played in 14-15.....
Always thought he was a good player. Part of a very good 'Canes team that won in 2006 (I'm still not over that one). Was excited when the Oilers traded for him, and a little disappointed in how he played (before they traded him back to Carolina).
Fitting that he'd do the 1-day deal in Carolina. If I were to start naming players that I associate with that franchise, he'd be very close to the top of the list.

Good player, for sure.
Here's a video that shows him high-fiving a referee after scoring a goal. Hah!

For that video and others, really liked Cole when he was with the Habs. Nice guy, too, I have a signed YG of him in the PC.
Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

Yeah, I always thought he seemed pretty cool -- the kind of player who just enjoys the game.
