Can someone explain me the existence of two 1 of 1 ITG card ? Dr. Brian H. Price ?
Before I start, I just want to tell people that I'm a big fan of ITG (before Leaf). On the other hand, I made a discovery which Disappoints me ... Hoping that someone can answer me.
I have this card:

Second copy is a Vault copy.
When ITG was closing up shop they released a tidal wave of cards, many of which were extremely limited or were at least thought to be. In the first wave, a collector was able to secure six copies of a card with a stated print run of five. A single dealer in Pittsburgh ended up with 13 copies of a Red Wings Motown madness parallel set that was supposed to be limited to 30 copies.
Collectors did not respond favourably.
In response, Price re-acquired as much as he could and then turned around and re-sold it to the collecting public with The Final Vault. So a lot of cards that shouldn't exist on the market still do, but with the Vault stamp to differentiate them from the originally pack-inserted cards.
I will only only stick to the facts in this reply. LOL
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The one on eBay appears to have a red V 1 of 1 stamped on the front of it so it is different

I am sure the answer will be along the lines of: "We made 2 copies of each 1/1 just in case the original was damaged. We never intended to release the second copy.".

It has become clear over the last couple of years that the actual production of ITG cards was bigger than it was advertised, at least sort of.....
Your 1/1 card: There is nothing to suggest that more than one copy of that card ever made it into packs. There are a few instances where people have found that the production run that made its way into a given product were greater than they were supposed to be (see the comment RGM81 made about 6 copies of a card that was supposed to be limited to 5). In cases like this (the few you can find) I believe they were production (or distribution / pack-out) errors - NOT something that was meant to happen.
In my first comment, I said "sort of" and this is what I meant:
It seems that a lot of the tiered memorabilia cards (something that had Black / Silver / Gold / Whatever versions.... /50, /10, /1 type variants) were produced in quantities that were bigger than the product release notes said they were.
Why? Two reasons seem apparent: This gave them extra cards for quality control (i.e. they could replace your damaged card) and it also gave them cards for show giveaways.
If you ever cracked boxes at ITG's booth at the Toronto Expo (and lots of other similar shows... their Cross-Canada tour, etc) you're probably aware that they often gave away "1/1 GU cards" as a show promotion. What were those cards?
It's pretty obvious that they produced extra copies of GU cards, so they could add whatever stamp was needed at the time of a promotion. So your Gold Sissons: Maybe they made 5 copies of it? Maybe they made 10? Maybe it was 3? I have no idea what the real numbers were like:
1 Copy was inserted into packs, and you have it. Maybe another copy was stamped for a giveaway at the Spring Expo that year. Maybe another copy was stamped for the Summit Show in Vancouver. Maybe they had 3 more copies left over, and added vault 1/1 stamps to them in this final release.
I would expect in most cases the stated print runs of those GU cards is true, if you don't include copies that have other stamps added to them after the manufacturing process. Does this affect the perceived value for you? I think for some people it does, for others it does not.
Yeah.... so... a card like that: It was advertised as a 1/1, and it most likely the only non-stamped copy out there. The amount of show stamped or vault stamped copies though? No idea, and it's impossible to know - since checklists for that kind of stuff were never available.

He last logged into the site 5 days ago. Will he come into this thread (eventually) and reply? Maybe, maybe not. If he does... he's not going to have any nugget of info that he hasn't already said multiple times: ITG produced extra copies of cards (including cards that were said to be quite limited) for customer service & promotional purposes.

I think your first response captured exactly what he'd say, so it would really be redundant at this point anyway.

A search for "ITG Vault" returns over 6k listings.
Yup. I won't try and tell anyone what they should think about these vault cards, and I can see both sides of it:
There were more copies of cards produced than the stated print run within a product.
These extra copies were not released without some kind of additional stamping, making them "different" from the copies that were inserted into packs.
One side says that by stamping the cards "Vault" or "Expo" or whatever.... the original print runs are not effected. The other side says the stamp doesn't matter, there are more copies available than there is supposed to be.
Which side is right or wrong is a matter of perspective, I guess. I know for myself: If I've been looking for a card for my collection, a "vault" version will not be good enough to cross that card off my wantlist. I want the card as it was inserted into packs... I don't consider the two the same.
